First of all, I'd like to clarify that I'm completely happy with my appearance and wouldn't have it any other way. In fact, I consider myself lucky being really thin. I plan to never take up drinking, partly so I don't get a beer gut like many of my relatives. However, I've never really had "game" as they call it and never had any success with "the ladies" so to speak. Again, don't really care and I don't judge myself on those terms (anymore). I mean I know the look of being checked out and I've seen it a few times, but not really often.

So here's my main question. Do women think skinny guys are good looking? Would they rather have a fat, or somewhat chunky guy? Someone with "meat on his bones" so to speak. I swear I get way more (direct) shit from people about being thin than anyone ever gets for being fat. Strangers seem to think I'm 14 when I'm actually 23. Whenever a benchmark is needed to discuss how a person looks, it's always, "they're skinnier than (insert my name here)." When I was in school, I would get picked on by fat guys, whereas most fat guys wouldn't be bothered because of their weight. Really confuses me, considering how much importance society attaches to weight and weight loss.

Well, I may not be female, but I do prefer skinny guys to fat/chunky guys.

I'm... slim at best... I don't gain weight, but I don't have a six pack or nothing. People call me skinny, but I think skinny is that point right before anorexic, where you have VERY little body fat. Slim is more "What girls go for" where I come from. When I ask my female friends, they say they don't care about six packs and all that. One of my friends is actually only into large, hairy men (a.k.a, bears. To each their own).

I wouldn't say it's attractive, I would say that it's appealing... Some people are into slim individuals, some are into larger people. Depends on your tastes.

EDIT: Don't forget it's VERY difficult to generalize in this day and age.

fat people tend to all look the same since their blubber obscures and individual features

slim people can be ugly too

Remember:

No one is immune to criticism.

OT: That being said, I judge those based on personality. Not by appearance. One's trash is another's treasure and all that jive.

Ummm... you only have a yes and no option...
How about it doesn't really matter?
To be honest, I'd probably say no. Probably because I'm nonsexual.
Or maybe because being skinny just isn't so attractive. I don't think the starved look is good on anyone >.>
This doesn't mean I am attracted to the other end of the spectrum.
I'd just say that it is not important, what the person looks like, how much they weigh, whatever, when compared to the person themself.
I wouldn't be attracted to a good looking person if they were a total asshole.

Totally true, but it's a case of "okay, so you have a skinny guy and a non-skinny guy, same personality and so on, which is better". At least I think that's what the OP is asking.

Can you have a chunky guy and a skinny guy? At the same time? Nothing stopping you!

Well i used to be skinny (like really skinny) and because i'm a really vain and shallow person i wasn't very happy with how i looked (not to say you shouldn't be too). So i started eating more and going to the gym. Now i'm bigger (not fat but my muscle mass has started to go up) and im much happier with how i look. So id say skinny isn't good and fat isn't good, just aim to be somewhere in the middle, but as long as you're happy with how you look who cares :). If you're not...do something about it.

If i was forced to pick one though i'd go for the 'fat' option as its more linked to the classic view of a man, being a protector and stuff as fat guys seem to be able to throw people around :).

Just my opinion.

I am female, and to answer your question: it's very very individual what woman wants. For instance: I like guys that are physically "bigger" than me; yes, that means with "meat on his bones" cause I "have meat on my bones" and I find it pleasing for us to be physically compatible in that manner. BUT, I have friends, mind you not friend but friendS, that are so into skinny guys that I can't describe you their lust for it. I am not joking. For them, there is nothing sexier on Earth. And we are talking skinny skinny here. So for most of my girl friends you just might be a dream guy.

At least as far as i can tell from Living in America all my life, Being Fat is a Taboo. It's a social topic best left alone for fear of "hurting someones feelings". Again this is just what i can tell from it all. From the Doctors telling Politicians that our country is too "fat" to America using a System to classify obesity using a faulty technique (The BMI). It's a social stigma brought on by the mass media conglomerate (news, hollywood, etc.). From a health standpoint being morbidly obese is proven to increase the risk of heart failures. But as far as social acceptance.....it shouldn't matter what you weigh if someone finds you to be cheerful to hang around then why should their weight stop them?

As for me personally, i don't care how big or small or skinny or fat or what other physical appearance you might be classified under, if u are a dick to me ill hate you, if you are nice to me then you will never pay for lunch ever again.....

That sounds a little off topic, but the point of it being is whether someone finds skinny people attractive or not, it really boils down to personality in my opinion....

Being a skinny guy, this would be interesting to find out. Obviously some people find skinny people attractive, or at least are not turned off by it as I know from experiance, but it would be interesting to see what people think in the larger scheme of things.

Personally I'm not that bothered by being skinny. I'm only 19, and will probably bulk up a bit as I get a few years older. I have enough muscle to perform all the tasks required of me at work, and whilst I dont do a really manual job it involves a lot of lifting and carrying boxes of paint, rolls of fabric etc so they can be heavy so it's not like I'm a total weed, but some extra bulk would be nice.

The worst thing about being thin is trying to get clothes that bloody fit!

I am quite skinny, so I hope the majority answer to this poll is yes. It has never hindered me before though, being skinny.

Agreed, and well said.
Also, this works for both genders in my opinion. Or at least it should.

Confidence sells any body type. You just need to know how to wear your own type and be comfortable with it. If you don't like that you are skinny, no one else will either.

I'd rather have someone average, but yeah, when it boils down to it, I like skinny guys more than the chunkier ones.

Goddammit, now I feel shallow for admitting that.

This pretty much sums it up. And though it may seem like the average afterschool special material, it really is true but in a non so cuddly way. If you feel good about yourself you're more likely to have fun, and if your having fun, chances are you're being fun, and if you're being fun, chances are women that are with you like spending time with you.

And thus, you get ze bitches.

Excessively skinny people are scary looking, the same goes for excessively fat people (I finally dropped out of the fat category and am finally just plump, hooray exercise). If you're just bones, then you're kinda creepy looking, but if you're just thin, and you ribs don't show through your shirt, then I don't care. I don't look to appearance alone for overal asthetics in human beings, you could be the most beautiful person alive, but if your personality sucks, then you instantly become a hideous freak to me.
