Yup, they're made of bricks and hardcore-ness. My PS2 has been obscenely tough too, but that might be a rarity.

Judging by the look of it, you could always lamp someone with it and do some damage without harming the gamecube...you could even sharpen the corners and tie some string to the handle and...I'm thinking too hard about this aren't I?

Shit, I don't know. It's not like I've tested each of my consoles after a certain number of whacks from a crowbar, and then after an equal increment more.

My GC has held up quite a bit and works fine! I love the little thing.
But I got this stainless steel case for it, and I swear it could survive a nuclear war in that thing

Hell yeah. That and my DS (which has been dropped countless times, including out of a window onto gravel, trodden on, run over, attacked by a dog, etc., etc.,) are the Keith Richards of games consoles. It did have some good games, too (think ToS, Skies of Arcadia: Legends, Fire Emblem: PoR, etc.), so, in my eyes, it was one hell of a console.

My original Playstation and my original Playstation 2 both broke for no reason other than I dared to play games on them. Gamecubes are definitely one of the sturdiest consoles ever made though. I'd use one to fend off attackers.

Let's not forget the controllers now. Mine took three hits before it finally broke open, as opposed to the one hit from my PS2 controller.

Nintendo consoles are sturdy as all hell. There's a Gameboy that survived a bomb explosion. It's still playing Tetris to this day.

The Gamecube rocks. I play it like twice as often as my Wii.

Actually it's probably more than that. Only time it broke was because the laser wore out from constant playing.

I had a SNES and have a Wii. My SNES worked just like the day i got it until i sold it *Cry* i had dropped it a few times and kicked it without realizing as well but it still stayed intact and played. My wii however has fallen off shelves from great distances several times and the only thing that broken on it is a controller input that causes the system to shut off whenever a gamecube controller is plugged into it

It's up there, but my NES survived being punched, kicked and having its housing cracked. It also had every kind of non-alcoholic beverage imaginable spilled on and in it. I never did get the chocolate milkshake off. NESs were always unreliable at best so its hard to tell how much all this shortened its life span. In the end it was chucked because I got a newer and more modern one.

Controller wise, NES controllers seem really durable. GC do as well. I never broke it but I could hear my PS1 controller getting ready to shatter in my hands as I twisted it. I stopped playing what ever game was pissing me off to save the poor thing.

Note: Nearly everything that was done to that poor NES was done by my older brother. I take good care of my stuff, especially know that I'm not 4.

I picked option three, because it does have that convenient handle, and nice pointy corners....

I don't know about that, but I know the GC controllers are frickin' sturdy. I smashed one against a concrete floor with a thin carpet over it several times out of gamer rage, and the thing still works to this day. As opposed to the PS2 controllers where I've snapped one in half over the arm of my chair once.

Not to mention Eternal Darkness which was a great exclusive title! (I think you could be more careful though......) ;-) Also Pikmin was a pretty fun game imo. The 'Cube had Metroid Prime which is widely considered a great game + there are more!

No; it's not bullet-proof. The original Xbox is:

Not many bullets flying round the average bedroom though! But plenty of people have knocked consoles over etc, my husband killed my old PS2 (the sturdy looking one) he walked by and knocked it off the table it was on maybe 18 inches from the floor, broke the PS2 and the game in it :-( Surprisingly we are still married ;-)

Mine's pretty tough.
It's outlived my T.V.

hell no not the game cube isn't the stupidest console, it has stupid qualities(like the tiny disks) but i like the game cube, I'd say some of the dumbest consoles out there would be the old saga consoles, there's so many i cant name them.
