I am planing to buy a next-gen console soon but am currently struggling between the Xbox 360 and PS3. So, is there enough of a graphics different between the two for it to be actually noticable?!!? Note: I am not going to be picking a console based on graphics. I am just seeing what the Escapist community thinks.

I have both and I really don't see a difference. Its really not something you should worry about when choosing.
I prefer the Xbox simply cause it has nice games like Gears of War and Halo.
I dont really use my PS3 cause I really didnt like Killzone :/
Then again, its all a matter of opinion :p

Short and simple: Nope.

People just want the best out of the best, even though it doesn't matter.

Only reason you would ever want a specific console is for its exclusive games.

In a word, yes. In more words, it really isnt a huge difference right now, but it will be later when games actually take advantage of the ps3's processing power. My advice, though, is to buy the one that you will enjoy the games the most. That's what gives a system longevity, right?

Of the many multiplatform games, the graphic comparisons between the PS3 and Xbox are negligible or irrelevant. Overall, the PS3 seems to have better coloring, while the 360 has better anti-aliasing (aka fewer jagged lines). Supposedly, Fallout 3 is graphically inferior on the PS3, but that's just what I've heard.

Go by the games, not the graphics.

I think you can consider free online multiplayer and the exclusives a bigger selling point for the PS3 than the graphics. I'd recommend just looking at the games and buy the platform with the games you like most. And don't just rule out the Wii because some fanboys are complaining about it.

Not yet, but I'd wager that there's a lot more to be had out of the PS3 than we've seen so far. The 360's more or less at its limit, but I have a feeling that the PS3's just getting warmed up.

Hopefully it'll be affordable enough that I can buy one by the time it's running full-steam.

If you can afford it the PS3. Not because of graphics, but the games. All good 360 games have eventually turned to the PC. PLUS you dont need some overpowered rig to run them. I use a hunk of LITTERALLY garbage found PC parts.

Its too early to tell. The best looking games, that make the most out of a consoles power, always come near the end of a consoles life span. Theres more to life than graphics. Buy the console with the most games youd like to play.

From what I've seen, like most here, the graphics difference is negligible right now. This may change later, but for now, it isn't.

Honestly, graphics should be the least of your considerations. Gameplay and game variety & availability should be your primary checks. And, of course, games you like.

Right now? No. The PS3 leads, but only on one or two high-end titles.

A year or two down the line? Yes; the PS3 will be well ahead.

No, I wouldn't say so. There are other various things that make the difference. I wont explain because I will sound like a unknowledgeable Xbox fanboy(which I partially am) like my above poster!

Unless you're using a 1080i TV and gold played HDMI cables, I doubt you would notice any difference at all.
