Poll: Is there honestly enough of a graphics difference between the 360 and PS3 to make it a selling point

I think this thread is starting to become a fanboy (pathetic) flame war.

"we has teh better gaimez"

As for the poll, yes, it is a selling point. It might not be to me personally (I own both), but I acknowledge that some people want the very best hardware. And that is the PS3. And theres nothing wrong with that, especially when Killzone 3 comes out ^_^

Yes, there is enough graphical difference to make it a selling point, but no, it ultimately is NOT a selling point, for the simple reason that there are not enough PS3 exclusives out there that adequately showcase this difference. Especially after the announcement about FF13, Sony gloriously lost the battle of exclusives that might have saved the console from being the last in sales.

I personally think the graphics do look better on the PS3, but that is never a selling point I try to stress. Basicly, if you want a hardcore gaming machine, you want the 360. If you want a more multi-functioning entertainment console, then you want the PS3. And if you're particularly niether, then go with whichever has the exclusives you prefer.

Another vote for no, there's a minor improvement of visuals on the PS3, visible if you have the right TV for the job in certain games.

Personally, for me, I prefer the 360 pad, I have one for my PC, (smart move, MS, getting the PC owners so used to the 360 pad), and there's a few games I'd really like to get, whereas the PS3, (personally), the PS3 didn't have a lot for me.

Eh. It will make a difference down the line. But the Wii has the best graphics ever. Just because the other consoles don't have a port of "Okami".

No. I played both the PS3 and the Xbox 360 and I honestly have to say, there is NO difference. If you buy a console, don't ask other people. They all have different opinions. Just look at the games for both and see which ones you like. You like 360 games? Get a 360. You like PS3 games? Get a PS3

Nah, I can understand buying a pc for better graphics, but better than that they are pretty much even and the differences are negligible.

Depends who you ask

360 owners: "No"

PS3 owners: "Yes"

PC owners: *Scoffs at the use of the term "graphics" in reference to consoles.*

Iron Ninja: "Depends who you ask..." (I thought about writing a never ending chain from this point on, but that would take ages and I am rather tired.)

Watch in HD (obviously) and check out the huge difference in effects between PS3 and 360.
This is useless.
It's impossible to compare the two if you're not showing the same scenes. It's like comparing a ferrari parked in a garage to a lambo on a race circuit.

No, if you want a hardcore gaming machine, you go with the ones with the exclusives that appeal to you. Duh.
Umm, no. If you want a harcore gaming machine, you want the 360 because it not only has more titles, but it has the much more competition to play against.

If you consider yourself a hardcore gamer, you should own both just for the exclusives.

Personally, I prefer the PS3, but I'm not very hardcore anymore.

Like everyone else is saying, basically no.

I own both, I've played copies of the same games on both consoles, and I don't notice a difference.

Again, like everyone else says, just go with whatever one has the MOST games that you'd like to play.

Or save up and buy both. ;)

Choose your console based on games. Or which controller you prefer because the graphics differences are marginal at best and its pointless making comparisons anyway. Graphical superiority depends more on how good the developers are at using the system than the systems latent potential. Just look at Black. Everyone thought the graphical potential of the PS2 had been reached years ago at its release.

I am a man of many hates. Dell, Mac, PS3, Wii, any form of MP3 player that isn't an iPod... these would all be things I avoid.
From experience I don't think it pays to have blanket rules on products. You never know when one of them will turn out to be the most appropriate.

I was a PES fanboy for many many years (since PES3), but this year for the first time Fifa 09 just 'felt' better and was more fun. I'm glad I'd never blinkered myself and never tried the fifa games every year otherwise I would not be getting so much out of it now.

Picking on DELL as well - I wouldn't dream of getting a DELL for my own gaming rig but I bought my wife a DELL laptop. Why? because it's got a warranty, is tested and she doesn't want to mess around under the hood.

Nope, even if the differences in visuals were "colossal" (to quote Cid SilverWing), that doesn't mean the graphics on the 360 suddenly become unplayable to the point that it's actually worth considering a selling point for the PS3.

There are games on the PS2/Xbox I still consider decent, and perfectly acceptable on a graphical level, anybody who seriously chooses the PS3 over the 360 just because of a potential graphics advantage needs to get their head out of their ass, 360 games still look great, and any differences in that regard are completely irrelevant to the quality of the games.

When there are only 2 brands of laptops I've ever had to fix, the rest have been fine.
The first: Dell, always having problems with them.
The second: Acer, my sister spilled orange juice in it.
I will always base previous experiences as a forewarning to myself.

I still have my old PS2, sisters play it now more than I do. I got an Xbox about a year before the 360 came out and my PS2 didn't leave my room fast enough. Good old PS2 that I'd had for many years kicked out on its rear end because I was sceptical about the big black beast. Halo changed my mind, I got the 360 mainly for Halo 3 but it was a complete turn off for me, ended up getting Oblivion as my first 360 game.
Rambled off point a bit there but I don't just wake up in the morning and say "f*&k Dell" for no reason.

Go with whatever library of games appeals to you most.

And really, 'hardcore' and 'casual' are subjective terms, so don't base your purchasing decisions based on whatever is seen as more 'hardcore'.
