Hate how people who are christian take offense so easily. I'm not christian, but I'm glad that I know Christians who have a sense of humour and the ability to laugh such things off. It's weird how some people thing of god as not being able to have a good laugh, even if it is at his own expense. Hell, if i can do it...

But either way, don't see it as offensive, nor see it as hilarious. Mildly amusing but I found this a lot funnier.

Hah, I saw this on the BBC back around Christmas, but its still fantastic.
Heres the link:
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/8417963.stm

FTA:
"What we're trying to do is to get people to think more about what Christmas is all about," he told the New Zealand Press Association (NZPA).

"Is it about a spiritual male God sending down sperm so a child would be born, or is it about the power of love in our midst as seen in Jesus?"

I can see the angle the are coming from, but I can't imagine they didn't think a lot of people would be pissed off by this. This kind of seems like something that would come off of "South Park".

Quite funny.
I don't understand why certain religious people believe nobody has the right to show blasphemous things.
"I don't like it, therefore it shouldn't exist."

Where's the "it's neither funny nor offensive, but has as much right to be there as anything else" option?

I follow Christ. I laughed.

I see their point, I bet it got a lot of people talking about God.

I don't mind Jesus jokes that aren't at the expense of His Divinity, I think he has a sense of humor.

I can see why people would be uptight about that sort of thing though... and as far as being a sex joke, I've seen more explicit jokes on prime-time television. Kids cartoons even. Anyone remember Roger Rabbit? Jessica rather?

Even if I was religious, I'd consider that amusing. Doubly so if that was really put up by a church. But I've always been an iconoclast.

I don't find it particularly funny, mostly cause that kinda humour sometimes irritates me, but otherwise I don't care.

I was in Auckland and I saw the church where this first went up. Kiwis got in a big fuss about it, so it got taken down, but I think that the church that did it was just being really really innovative and pushing some theological boundaries.

You know what? It works. It's really memorable and prompts some questions on Christian tradition and theology. I saw that it's funny, but it's greater value is that it's also provocative. (I like good art and have a BA in Religious Studies.)
