I don't know this new Mortal online looks really good. I've tried loads of mmos, WoW which to be honestly bored me very quickly because its lore and background just didn't engage or interest me. LOTRO on the other hand I really enjoyed, very similar in many aspects but the world I found more engaging. Thing is aside from a everyone looking for whats going to be the next big 'Fad' thats gonna knock WoW off its pedestal, most people don't realise like all MMOs WoW survives because of a dedicated player base, WoW had a massive starting advantage because it had Warcraft in the name, that massive pre wow strategy franchise that has its own huge following that many have gone across to WoW. Since I was never big on Warcraft I didn't get into WoW but could get into LOTRO because I'm a fan of the books. Also Blizzard are really good at the promotion aspect of their game, they've got Mr T and Shatner to do adverts for them!

"me and him" you mean he and I. Anyway who cares if a game kills wow or not as long as people play it, for example Roma Victor, an mmo no one has heard of, no one has played and anyone who tries is scared off within 5 minutes of starting due to graphics and learning curve, but even with its dated, dated, dated graphics and dying population I think its a great game and I'm going to enjoy it, It damn well isn't going to kill WOW but I enjoy is so who cares?

An MMO that while average these days pretty much invented the audience in the west for grindfest MMO's. WoW couldn't beat it in its good days, but it got a bit old and Everquest 2 was a waste.

There are alot of new MMO's being developed, like DC Online, Star Trek, Star Wars:The Old Republic, Mortal Online and a few others. Nothing will topple the Mighty WoW, because most games never go away, they maintain as long as they have loyal players.

I will always try an MMO I am interested in, but I am still loyal to the one I love most.

You know, watching the video of this game actually peaked my interest.
I like the view, I like the art style. Now, it is very rough, but everything I saw was in pre-beta or alpha stage, so I'm not going to judge fully based on that.

WoW was fun for a while, but not fun enough for me to keep playing.
Maybe if I had a group of people I knew p[laying the same times I did, so that I wasn't soloing all the time, then maybe I'd be interested in picking it up again.

Oh! And I'd need a computer, too. Mine broke (I'm at work now).

But this game could be alright. I'll have to wait and see, I suppose.

I would have have to say WoW is here to stay, it has been payed for to long to be taken over by another game. It has a very dedicated fan base. And have you ever noticed many games have came out for PC that distract gamers from WoW but they always ending up coming back to it.

I reckon when Star Trek Online, comes out, it could steal a lot of the Hardcore Nerds.

It's a game by Sony, but I think it's odd that he said that when more people play WoW than EQ...

Damn, my bad since sarcasm does not work with text but it was a rhetoric question basically mocking EverQuest. I thought the XD gave it away but sadly not. Sorry if no one got that.

Nope.

Even people who don't play videogames play WoW, that's it's great strength, like the Wii it's caught the attention of the casual player, few other MMO's can boast that and no other games can boast it on the same scale.
Even that internet gaming behemoth Counter Strike is dwarfed by the numbers on WoW. Other MMO's only tempt people who play games, mainly because most WoW players neither know nor care about the alternatives.

Yeah... some random game that I've never heard of from some random developer I've never heard of. Right.

MMOs are the hardest and most capital intestive genre to do succesfully. The gaming hiway is filled with the roadkill of shitty MMOs. If you are not an already established company, good f-ing luck.

Another thing to consider that hasn't been brought up a lot is the social networking that has gone on within WoW, and how difficult it will be to break that up. I still love WoW as a game, but there are some times when the ONLY reason I'm logging in is to chat with my guildies, and if I ever quit the game *they* would be the thing I'd miss the most. While some of the new games coming out look genuinely interesting (I'd love to try Aion or the new Star Wars MMO), I don't think I could "switch" and just leave my friends behind.

Now if they switched with me, however...

WoW will die when it gets too old, and still there will be a few faithful that still play. Like Everquest. Someday, on some forum, someone will mention WoW, and someone else will say "What is WoW? XD"

WoW is an oddity, an exception, a strange beast of a game that defies all logic.

If you look at every other MMO ever released prior to and after WoW's release you'll see a fairly consistent pattern.

However, I do feel like WoW's success has ruined the MMO market. Much like Ebay has ruined the garage sale economy.

I'm hoping at this point developers and publishers have given up on toppling WoW. Look at all the money Funcom threw at Age of Conan and EA threw at Warhammer Online in the attempt.

I chose don't care.
Guild Wars is still the best online role-playing game (if that's what's passing off as "roleplaying" now) for me.

WoW is a cartoon game for children.

All of beta and about a week afterwords was all I could stomach. Smarmy in the extreme.
