If you're going to complain about them using mythologies from our reality, know this: ALL fantasy fiction does this HEAVILY! The only reason you may not have noticed this is because you have not experienced the vast majority of mythologies out there.
It's not that they're just taking from mythology, it's that they're using it a lot and it's soooo heavy and easy to spot. It's easy to tell that The Storm Peaks was full of Norse, Old Gods is Lovecraftian, and Cata has Egypt. Some subtle similarities would be fine, but this is too heavy (Doc). The game used to have a lot more originality with some alegories relating to real life. I wish it could go back to that.

I have said that WoW has always been terrible and that I'd quit any day. This is usually accompanied by clicking open WoW and sinking a good portion of my day into it. Anyway, I've forgotten where I'm going with this... Oh yeah, resilience ruined WoW for me, turning PvP from who's the better player to who has the bigger numbers.

I personally hate Cataclysm. I think raids are gradually getting easier, and likewise for leveling. You can get an epic flyer like at level 10 now. I also think Vanilla raids were the best by far. With the exception of Sunwell, Vanilla raids when they were recent were ridiculous. Ahn' Qiraj has been wiped by groups of 70s... I've seen it.
Oh god no. I raided hardcore back in vanilla, and that was the WORST endgame the game has ever had. It had some good parts but you couldn't get me to go back there if you paid me.

Also, me and a priest friend two-manned AQ40. Was fun.

That was always how PvP was. Or did you miss how warriors with Ashkandi destroyed anyone who wasn't in Warlord/Marshal gear? :p

It's just that now, you get gear from PvP rather than raiding.

Better than ever before. The leveling content is amazing compared to what they offered during Vanilla0, a lot more varied and polished, intergrating story-lines way better with questing content now. Just do the Redridge area for the humans. It's freakin' amazing. Raids and instances offer much more varied content as well, more variation in tactics and style. It's a lot more refined and polished than it was before. I find the storylines a lot more interesting now too, with the new Horde and the tensions that creates throughout Azeroth.

Best thing is though that overal Blizzard has given WoW players a lot more choice on how they want to tackle the game. Just do the questing content? Sure. Want to level with PvPing? They got you covered. Ignore all that and just play group instances with friends? Go right ahead. Just want to see the endgame content? 10-Man raids are for you. Want a real challenge? Go get the 25-man achievements. You can even level without killing stuff if you want.

They still aren't nearly as hard as Vanilla was, though.
Then again, boss fights in Vanilla were usually hard because you had to manage 40 people and the spam of monsters. In the expansion boss fights finally were starting to get really interesting tactics. You can do so much more with bossfights when you limit raids to 25 people.
This a million times over. I play for various reasons, the most of which is to explore and get immersed in the world and lore (one of those few players that actually read quests and pay attention to the story). Plus, you're right about raids; they're "easier" because you don't have to worry about all the management that 40 people need instead of 10/25, where not all of them even have to be in your guild. One last thing, has anyone actually seen the stuff for 4.2?! That patch looks amazing and will probably be one of, if not, the best in the game's history.

Quality wise, it's the best it's ever been.

But people are just starting to get bored of it. It's happening everywhere I look. No matter how great something is, it's human nature to get bored of it after long enough.

I tried Cataclysm after not playing since the end of the Burning Crusade. I started a new character and leveled to 60 before I stopped liking it. I stopped liking it because I felt like I was playing Internet: The Game instead of World of Warcraft. Every time I entered the mood of being a budding hero some in-game reference to pop or Internet culture would slap me back to reality.

LOL.

Okay. Yeah, because people back in the day fared extremely well against t2+ raiders and such.

WoW stopped being good after the first expansion came out. Vanilla WoW, oh, Vanilla WoW... Where art thou, Vanilla WoW?
Agreed, there used to be petitions up to have "Vanilla servers" for people who wanted that epic feel it had back in the day. Unfortunately, Blizzard pretty much gave them the finger and they seem to have vanished. Probably quit, like myself.
And how would you run dedicated vanilla servers? Start from the first patch and make a timeline for when you put out patch releases and hold off even on hotfixing bugs til major patches like they would do back in the day? Seriously, the prospect of how it would even work out boggles my mind when people ask for this. You don't flip a switch.

Blizzard will keep giving those people the finger. They don't support previous patches of SC2 do they? You play the latest patch. WoW is, essentially, one game that constantly evolves.

The fact that vanilla wasn't super amazing makes it really depressing.

Oh wow. The combination of that post and your username is just so ironic I can taste it. But yeah, I know it was wishful thinking. I do remember someone did come up with a viable way to do it but I can't remember what it was.
