I don't know if its just me but I'm wondering does Xbox Live seem to be getting worse?

What I don't mean is that Xbox Live is getting worse, Netflix, Last FM, Zune and ESPN are all amazing but that doesn't matter, this is thread is just about the multiplayer.

It seems to me that the amount of loud children, trolls, hackers, and just generally bad people seem to be growing at an exponential rate. The J-taggers in MW2 the aim bots in Halo, I mean I know it happens in other services but it happens so much on the Xbox with so little enforcement of the code of conduct.

It seems to me that most of these problems could be helped out by some moderator support, I mean the literal billion dollars a year Xbox Live make seems like it would be able to pay a couple of mods, because the current measures are comlpetely ineffctive like the file complaint system.

It is kinda ruining the experience I have at least 5 friends who have went back over to the PS3 or sold there Xbox for a PS3 so Escapist I poll you, is this crap getting worse.

And if you dont have an Xbox why would you post in this thread?

And I know its the game developers that should be doing this but Microsoft makes the service and it could at least try to moderate or make the developers do it. Post opinions

i agree with what you say, i cant really compare it to PS3 as i dont own one but compared to the PC multiplayer it does seem to be getting worse.

also i think that generally the quality of multiplayer games has gotten worse aswell

If anything I think Live as a whole has gotten better, at least for me. I mean now I can chat with my friends while joining them as teammates as we gun down our opponents and not have to worry about screaming in our ears unless its one of us laughing like a little girl

I'm not really sure that mods would be effective. So many multiplayer games each with hundreds of matches going on at once, it'd be hard to moderate effectively. And what about when a new game or sequel is released? Would the old game just get left and modding that game seen as redundant, or would they have to keep expanding the modding team?
Maybe instead an overhaul of the complaints/reporting system would be useful and more practical so it's easier to self-moderate.
Unless you're thinking of it in a different way to me, in which case I apologise.

Its the same with all online multiplayer Xbox live just has more people so there's more trolls and 9 year olds (Microsoft does a good job with hackers though.)

if anything its gotten better? i honestly hardly ever see hackers or cheaters anymore, plus with xbox live its so user friendly for me to hop in with my friends or talk with them that i dont have to worry about little kids, and even then i dont run into them for reasons unknown to me...(and im a huge fan of halo reach so its not like im playing games they dont "supposedly play on" )

the reason why ps3 isn't as bad is because no one talks on there, and you cant do party chat anyways so chatting with friends is near useless on there, i know 1 person with a ps3 for every 15 people with a 360

That has to be a false statement the ps3 is only 4 million units below the xobx and has more consoles online than the xbox

Not really. Its nothing noticable.

Most of the time, with things like this, it tends to be exploits and glitches that make the community go bad. Such with the case of Modern Warfare 2. Infinite Noobtubes\claymores, easyer camping, quick scopes ((aided by the horrible aim assist in the game)), 360 noscopes ((because of the same reason)).

Its because exploits are possible that it feels that way. But really, its just one subgroup thats causing the problems.

The gamers make up the multiplayer community, so that would mean that the gamers are getting worse.

To your original question, is XBL multiplayer getting worse? No. Microsoft cracks down on hackers quickly and harshly.

Also, there's a report button for a reason. If someone is really obnoxious and many people file a complaint against them, they will get a suspension, ban or possible name change (if a gamertag is offensive).

The problem with Xbox Live is a lack of moderation. Everyone who screams, plays music through their microphone, team kills, hacks, mods their Xbox, boosts for points, uses a turbo controller, or any number of other offenses should be banned. No warning, no bullshit suspensions, just ban them.

I thought it was getting better. Then again I'm pretty trigger happy with the mute button.

thats because of the demographic of age/use of people and the location of the users

xbox 360 is much much larger in america than it is in japan, and we tend to play multiplayer fps type stuff way way more than any asian countries do, so thats where that comes from.

so i wouldn't call it false, but the numbers can be mixed depending on what your looking at.

No, the gaming community is.
But wouldn't that count as the Xbox Live experience?

I use Xbox Live but not for any big title games so I can't really say. In my perspective, it's fine.
