The best experiences with drinking, imo, are when you hit a buzz and maintain it. Being a lightweight just makes that a smaller range and easy to overshoot.

Personally, I've never enjoyed being around lightweights because they get smashed and you end up having to either take care of them because you're still sober or they cause drama as the night goes on. This usually happens because once drunk they most likely won't stop until they're out cold. If I go out drinking it's to have fun, not to baby sit.

I don't really drink so it doesn't matter to me but it would help if you want to forget something for a while.

Well considering being a lightweight means you have little poison resistance, not really.

I am a lightweight

I also succumb to peer pressure very willingly when drunk

So people will tell me to drink more and I end up drinking myself far past my limit and have a good (although hazy) time!

Disadvantage: it pretty much displays a somewhat weak constitution, or at least a major susceptibility to mind-altering chemicals. Hope ya never go in for surgery, or if you do, hope the anesthesiologist goes closer to the minimum dose than the maximum.

Also, never get drugged and kidnapped, or any other outlandish scenario involving involuntary drug use. Avoid the merest breath of deadly neurotoxin... and try not to get pepper sprayed (that stuff actually doesn't work on me... I used to cook for the gas chamber).
Oddly enough, I have a very high tolerance to pain killers and anesthetics, despite being so prone to intoxication by alcohol. Maybe I've grown this tolerance from all the morphine, codine and anesthesia I had after a near fatal accident I had a while ago. But I can be put under for surgery and be feeling fine within a couple of hours : \

To girls, it's not so much of a bad thing. For guys it's all about image, and it's a sign of weakness if you're a lightweight, you aren't perceived as manly.

Meh. I'm a regular ol' middleweight.

Eh I don't care about it much. It's just the social way it's seen around where I live. It's pretty stupid really.

As someone who can easily go through a bottle of spirits trust me, it's a good thing. It gets expensive when something that used to last you two or maybe even three nights as a young fellow doesn't even last a whole night.

Were beards ever practical? No.

It's quicker and cheaper, where are the disadvantages?

About 3 hours ago, my brother said to me "you're a lightweight!" after I'd ingested about 5 units of alcohol and wanted to stop, and made it out to be a bad thing, which pissed me off, so I came here and seeked the opinions of internet peoples.

This of course means I'm still a bit drunk when I write this. Nonetheless, I want a super serious discussion.
Short and scrawny people do not need to eat as much as someone as large as me, but...well I think you get the point.

I can actually sympathize with your situation, even though I am a very large person, it doesn't take much alcohol to put me on my ass. Don't try to reason with your brother though, he is simply using any way he can to dominate you.

I'm in the weird situation of being a lightweight who needs to keep drinking to sustain it. Only takes me two or three to get drunk but I have to keep drinking at a steady pace to keep myself drunk. I've got a fast metabolism so unless I keep drinking my body processes it and I become sober again.

It depends if your a lightweight mentally or physically.

I get drunk enough to puke way before I get the chance to be drunk enough for mental impairment. Since mental impairment is the entire point of drinking this is the bad way.
If your a lightweight mentally but heaver weight psychically, that's the good way.

True, but does the manly reputation really outweigh the extra cost in the long term? It could end up being thousands of pounds/dollars.

Pros:
Cost-effectiveness
You'll think yourself much funnier
Ladies will sympathise with you
Attractive to gay men

Cons:
Stop drinking before your friends
You'll be the drunk idiot the fastest
Be the least funny after four drinks
Have to water everything down
Lose all drinking games
Lack of manliness
Probably can't even grow a beard
Not attractive to women
And ladies and gentlemen The Bobmus wins the thread.

If your a lightweight you're not a man because as we all know manliness is measured in how many liters of beer we can drink.

EDIT: If you're a woman it's probably for the better, men are attracted to women that are wasted easily. If a woman can drink them under the table they're going to get intimidated.
EDIT: Not all men.
But if your a lightweight you get steal everyone else's manliness by getting drunk first and then drinking them under the table its great fun I do it all the time.

Measuring your social status by how much you can drink is only useful if you want to be measured by this. Someone calling you a lightweight and dissing you because you can't ingest as much alcohol which (let's face it) is poison, is silly.

There's nothing wrong with being a "lightweight" and I really get pissed off when I see people shit talking lightweights. I personally can handle plenty of alcohol, though I have a friend who can't. Other people always pressure him to drink more, I'll always tell them to back off. Better that than having him puke all night and hate himself tomorrow.

I am a heavyweight. It sucks. It costs soo much money and I lose all drinking games anyway because I suck at them.
