I'd continue as I normally would if I was without power in broad daylight.
I have exceptional dark vision, I'm used to navigating cluttered basement/garage-esque spaces in pitch darkness, and I am dead certain that I'm the scariest thing that lurks in the darkness.

I'd... I dunno. Clean my house? Rearrange furniture?

Not notice. Seriously, power outages are par for the course where I live, a midnight one is much better than when you're trying to cook something. Also, I'm asleep at midnight, can't handle late nights at all.

It depends on whether I'm in the city or the countryside, and how cold it is outside.

This happens often during storms on the countryside, and it can take days, so I'd have to try to check on the food and if there's stuff in the freezer and such...

If it's in the middle of winter, I'd find some extra clothing etc. And if it looks like it can last a while, close a part of the building, move my bed to the living room, and only heat that room with the fireplace.

If in the city, I wouldn't be too worried, since it would be fixed soon.

In both houses we have flashlights and candles to be used on such occasions, so first I'd go where the flashlight is always kept, for such situations.

It's impossible to see in perfect darkness. Granted, midnight, depending on where you live and the time of the year, might have plenty of sunlight, but during winter? And when the city lights are out?

As long as the power's back on by around 9 AM I'm probably not even gonna notice, I'll already be asleep and only notice because I've got not podcasts to wake up to. Before midnight and the power goes out, I've got an Android powered media player with plenty of content and games on it and various other ways to keep myself entertained until either the power does come back on or I go to bed and get some sleep. Power outages really don't bother me that much.

Go to bed and play DS until I fall asleep.

If you're talking total electronic and electrical failure too - i.e. smartphones, DSs and anything else beyond the simplest of electronics - I'd probably stick my head outside for a few minutes to see all the dead streetlights, then quit for the night.

I usually have my DS or PSP charged for such an occasion, as it has happened before.

If not, I have batteries for my Gameboy Advanced.

If neither of those...well, I'd be screwed. Can't read or draw in the dark, not gonna waste candles or flashlight power for something so frivolous...I'd sleep.

Alternatively, "LOOTING!"

Not really...

I'd get my flashlight and a Lovecraft book. A power outage is the perfect time to read some Lovecraft!

This scenario just happened a couple weeks ago. Half my city was without power due to downed power lines during a blizzard. After the battery in my DS died(in other words, after about 1 1/2 hours), I just sat there in the dark and made up stories in my mind until I was tired, then I went to bed. Unlike most people, I can't force myself to go to sleep. If I'm not tired, I'll just end up tossing and turning in bed for several hours, and that's no fun at all.

Considering none of us in my flat have candles or torches, I'd probably just go to bed. If I were at home I'd probably light a candle or get a torch and play my acoustic bass a bit. My house is a bit creepy in the dark (it's not old, it's just strangely designed so I'd possibly go and take a look at the view from the garden (the house is on a hill, looking out over the Bristol Channel, so the views can be great sometimes).

Usually just read a book using a flashlight or an oil lamp.

I love it outside though when there's no electricity. It's so incredibly quiet, I'll go out at like 2 am and all the street lamps are out, the stars are shining above for once. No one is driving no one is out partying or watching their TVs. It feels like I'm the only person in an empty world, like some calamity has ended civilization, and for some reason I actually like that feeling. Probably because I know they will be back soon enough, but in that moment I enjoy the reprieve from the rest of the world.

1: Call it a night
2: Grab a flashlight and make sure everything's okay (depending on the source of the power outage, I might need to start the generator and hook the sump pump up)
3: Start texting friends more frequently (I'm assuming cell phones can still work. Again depending on the source of the outage)
4: Read on my Kindle
5: Bust out my GBA or DS and play some pokemon

That's pretty much what I did when there was this huge windstorm that left the ENTIRE STATE out of power for 7-10 days.

If I, for some reason, couldn't go to sleep; then I'd probably listen to my iPod until I did go to sleep/read by candle light.

Rummage around for a light source, like some candles or something, and go to bed.

Unless the whole city is out,in which case I'd love to see the stars without any light pollution.

Assuming Im still up be annoyyed and check my phone to see it has enough battery to wake me up at my normal time the next day. after that, assess the situation if anyone's up, keep my fridge closed to keep the cold air in as long as possible and sleep. wake up the next day, see what the situation is and wait for it to be fixed while continuing my day.

I mean hell, i grew up in a place where we would have the occasional 2-3 day long outage because of storms or floods. you get used to it.
