because, you know species have never died out before
*Hides the massive backlog of huge extinctions, and evidence of species dying out through the years anyhow
I mean, its not like natural selection matters anymore

I am scared of these HARDON (hard on. Ya, I'm that immature) colliders mentioned in the poll, although the Large Hadron Colliders do not worry me at all.
Human civilization will be extinguished when a religious zealot angers an idiot with nuclear weapons and nobody to tell that person not to push the pretty blinking button, and then the aliens will get us.
Didn't see that coming did you?
And neither did the Aliens when the pyramids turned out to be giant anti space rockets. Just you watch.

Well, scientists always said, they had an immense knowledge of astronomy, now we know where they put it to use.
And say about slave labour what you will, it gets the job done.

And then we also have the whole thing about how hysteria causes conflict, so even if the sun starts dying or food starts vanishing or something, everyone gets a bit crazier, everyone gets pissed, and then there's a bit less remorse for nuclear attacks because you've got the "We're all fucked anyway" thought process.

I either see humans nuking each other because we were pissed at each other, or some cosmic or environmental thing prompts us to destroy each other.

I just can't see humanity going out with lots of anger going around. And lots of anger combined with hopelessness leads to lots of ruthless killing.

My best guess is that the sun will grow too large and bake Earth to a crisp. Meteors might cause major damage as well--A good-sized one might hit Earth in 2036. But if the sun is the cause, the world probably won't end for a few billion years. I figure by that time humanity will have evolved into a superintelligent race that's long since colonized other planets, so it may not mean the end of the human race or whatever it's evolved into.
It would be pretty awesome if the planet just exploded one day for no reason at all...I mean, we'd all be dead, but if we weren't dead we'd have a good laugh about it.

Heh, that would be kind of like Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, that was pretty random, too.
And funny.

Nukes. Someday someone will get control of them and actually be stupid enough to use them and blow us all to kingdom come.

Religiously based, cause I'm religious.
And we all know how reliable religion is in telling when the world will end. *rolls eyes*
That's the best part, my religion doesn't try to predict "when", just to keep everyone on their toes.

Scientists (They have hardon colliders and time machines)

Isn't it called a Hadron collider?
A 'hardon' collider is something completely different... and a lot more painful.

Personally i think an asteroid would finish us off pretty sharpish unless we build a giant tennis racket or something.

I'm guessing environment, because we're rapidly on our way towards fucked already.
It's quite likely that we'll go that way, but I'd doubt the earth would notice. It's been along quite some time, and has endured almost any extreme condition you can think off. It won't be destroyed by a bunch of puny humans.

It'll probably burn up long after we've gone, or float around for ever (or as close as to "for ever" that it hardly makes a difference).

Best typo ever. Makes me want to finish my degree just so i can learn to use the hardon collider. I especially like the idea of an apocalyptic hardon collider.
It was an intentional typo cause I think it is funny.

Don't get caught in Foreign Tower.

Slash and burn; return, listen to yourself churn.

I think the world will end when we stop having these damn threads. SO KEEP 'EM COMIN'.

The world won't actually end until something destroys the earth, like actually breaks apart the planet so it can't support life anymore. Or are you asking how human life will end?
