Just got done playin thru another run of Jade Empire on the PC. I know Bioware can come up with great plots for their games, but I always love coming back to Jade Empire because it has such great story tellin. Ya I know whats gonna happen but I love playin thru to get to those great monents. Anyone else enjoyed Jade Empire not just for it great story but also its great Kung Fu combat?

Yes, the making of the people to be exploding is very satisfying.
Harmonic combo FTW.
Although the game does have it's flaws... damn spear weilding HC immune enemies.

Yes, and the characters! I played it ages ago so i cant remember their names but the big drunken warrior and the little girl possessed by demons :)
also it had nice balanced bonuses for exploration, like i remember if you read all the scroll things in the starting place you would unlock a permanent small bonus to your magic, not big enough to hinder you for not getting it, but still nice to have the bonus

Loved Jade Empire. Only a few gripes about it...lots of glitches and some rather stiff movement, but otherwise a very solid game.

Number one gripe about it was this: You get to see the two-tailed kitsunes...I originally thought they would be a transformation art. Turns out, they aren't. ._.

Dear god, I must play that game again when I get home from work! Anyone know if the xbox version is compatible with 360?

Most people on the BioWare forums cite JE as the worst BioWare game so far.... I mean, WTF? The game is utterly fantastic. The attention to detail and the depth of conversation in it is awesome, not to mention all the puzzles (and NO towers of Hanoi, if I remember correctly, which I probably don't) and the often weird settings and characters. Love it.

Only problem is the imbalance with the different spells/martial arts.

It is, although apparently sometimes textures look dodgy. Can't say I ever noticed it, though.

I saw the topic and had to instantly come here. Such a great game that I have finished countless times, mostly on Jade Master difficulty. It was a time well spent.

I would have to say my favourite parts are all the side quests, learning all the styles, and in the Lotus Assassin academy. On my first play-through I didn't even realise the Black Leopard school was there XD

Wow I played that game SOOOO long ago I barely remember it. One thing I remember however is even for a JRPG the talking bits where you choose what you say as they explain story line were WAY TOO DAMN LONG.

EDIT: And I am someone who ENJOYED MGS4's ridiculously long cut-scenes.

I loved this game, and have played it many times. There was a rumor that they are working on making a second one, I hope it's true, but it probably wont come out for a while since Bioware are focusing on Mass Effect and Dragon Age at the moment.

i really loved jade empire, although i did think it to be a bit short, and the twist, well let me just say I usually figure out way before hand when a huge twist is around the bend, this game left me utterly gobsmacked

great game, truely one of my favourites

on a side note i wish to see more western rpg's with a combat system like jade empire, i foudn it so good to have control over my attacks and to be able to perform such "harmonic" combo's

Yeah, I always got pissed off everytime I started a new game and had to listen to the old guy tell me about the types of grass and their healing properties...

I picked up Jade Empire for £2 in a deal, and didn't expect much. When I actually played it I was incredibly impressed.
It's a gigantically offensive shame the second half of the game is nowhere near as beefy as the first half. Soon as you finish the Imperial City it seems to really rush and start pulling the clichés out. However I did kind of enjoy
coming back from the dead and completing Dirge, even though it lacked side-quests like every other part of the game.
I also didn't like how the end was just a series of scrolls briefly detailing what happened. Not to mention how quickly the end seemed to come. The whole final chapter seemed very padded out and hollow.

The series really could use a sequel to explore the massive universe they set up.

I thought the combat was kind of crappy and frustrating, but it was my first Bioware game and I was totally blown away by the writing that was actually good.

Also I played it on the XBox, so maybe that is why I experienced suck, combat-wise.

My friend borrowed my copy of Jade Empire over 6 months ago which I think is way too long. I'm gonna get it back and play it again as I have forgotten what a fantastic game it is^^

The worst thing I have suffered with it on the 360 is lag tbh, it does 'stick', occasionally same goes for KOTOR and KOTOR II but it isn't a big deal. You can download it from marketplace if that bugs you though!
OT - I adore Jade Empire, it is a beautiful game everything works, the story, the atmosphere, soundtrack and gameplay are all wonderful. Plus for its age it still looks very nice.
