Colbert.

Both are great, but Stewart lacks the subtly that makes Colbert brilliant. Sure, its funny when Stewart is swearing, shouting loudly at some stupid policy decision/individual; but its damn satisfying when Colbert takes it that one step further, agreeing with something/someone downright stupid, just to cut it/them to shreds with razor sharp satire. The White House Press Dinner, or even his recent introduction to the 2010 Grammy's, being able to mock people to their faces and not have them realise it, or laugh alone uncertainly is something I don't see from Stewart.

In short, Stewart seems to verge on Srs Bznz in his satire, Colbert stays funny, and it ends being more powerful.

Jon, his whole show is just funnier and more..."true". Stephen is ok, but Daily Show is much better, and I learn more.

Went with Jon, both can be really funny at times, but I find Jons show more consistent, while Colberts show is more hit and miss.

Too hard to choose. They're both really funny in their own ways, which makes me glad that they always come on one after another so that I always get both ^_^

Stephen Colbert was the best part of the Daily Show when he was a correspondent and he still makes me laugh far more than anything else on TV, but Jon Stewart and the Daily Show give me more actual information while also being entertaining. I guess that makes it a tie.

I think they're both pretty hilarious, but this little snippet from a few years ago elevates Jon Stewart in my opinion.

Both are pretty damned funny but I give the edge to Jon Stewart. Probably because he's not playing a character.

I prefer Stewart's deadpan, but I'm a big admirer of Colbert as well.
Both expose the absurdity of the American political sphere and the major cable news outlets; the difference lies in the presentation.
Colbert circumvents the material by playing with it, whereas Stewart confronts it.
He's also capable of extracting more substantial dialogue with a hand puppet than the average news anchor is willing to do with any given government official or similar.

Case in point, observe how he demolishes Bill Kristol. [http://www.thedailyshow.com/watch/mon-july-27-2009/bill-kristol]

[Edit] On second thought, I'd rather link directly to The Daily Show's website.

Colbert's first half of the show with Stewart's second half. Colbert's interviews are awkward and not the funny kind. Stewart's actually has a little substance while remaining humorous. However, Colbert is way better at just speaking to his audie- excuse me - nation.
