Muahahahah, now I know how to implement this ingenious trap. You're all doomed now.

OT: I don't hate him. I despise his music utterly, and disagree entirely with those who would enjoy it. It's a matter of taste, and I despise what he does. And, if you're going to talk about talent, autotune and not writing your own songs don't count for much in my book. Dancing doesn't improve your music. Ok, you can get your crew of backup twats and move like morons, but the music and the energy are the important part to my mind of a live show. His music is annoying (To me), and choreographed dancing isn't personal or energetic. The kinda-crappy band I saw a couple of weeks ago at a dive of a bar had more energy, diving off the stage, getting into their music, engaging the audience.

But the fact that I don't like his music doesn't mean I'm actually going to dedicate any moronic time or effort to it (Like say, every second comment on non-pop music videos). He's a part of a clever scam to rort immature girls out of money by convincing them that his generic love songs are aimed at them, and that they're special to him. Every one of the millions of them. It's made him rich, and I congratulate him on that: Well played, sir.

If you want me to spend 6 minutes of my time listening to someone who's voice I can't stand, then please, keep away from me.

Lyrical quality is not really a reason to call someone a good or bad musician. You can have great musicians who are sucky poets.

To get an idea of why I dislike Bieber's music, imagine his songs without his voice and replaced with an instrument. They are incredibly bland and boring.

The other reason I dislike the music is because of its production quality. Everything is doctored and fixed and tidied up (though it's not really his fault) and auto-tuned and put into its proper mechanical place. It sounds very unnatural sounding.

The last reason is pure jealousy. I am a musician, and I hate the fact that the most celebrated musical artists of our time are those that are pure sex symbols. The only reason Justin Bieber is popular (among women and some guys) is because he is sexually attractive.

I don't like his music. I don't listen to it. I don't pay attention to him. I don't care for him, his music, or his fans. I've got other things to hate. That's as far as my "hate" extends to. I've got plenty of other music to listen to, and plenty of other things to engross myself in. I'm not gonna hate on some artist I don't listen to because everyone else is hating him. He hasn't done anything to me. He's not worth my time.

My opinion on him?

"Just in what? Oh, that guy. Yeah, he exists, I hear. Now excuse me, I have things to do."

What can I say, all I can do is quietly shed a tear at how "Simple minds, simple pleasures" holds true. Simple is no fun.

As a person, he might be the best pop celebrity right now by virtue of all other pop celebrities being scumsucking douchebags or colossal idiots. He still looks like a smug jackass who just got off the bus every time I see him though.

Where his musical abilities are concerned, he will probably become a legitimately good singer in a few years IF he drops the pre-chewed pop ghetto schtick and actually puts some real direct effort into writing his own songs (instead of singing the warbling, pop-trash his manager has him doing). Love him or hate him, his voice has actually improved and I can't say that about most child singers.

But goddamn it if his existing music doesn't drive me into a Kill Bill murder craze.

Eh, I'm sort of indifferent to him. I don't care for his music, but he doesn't seem like a bad guy.

You chose one of the least arrogant non-douches as a target.

Justin Bieber is more or less a paragon of humility and friendliness as far as celebrities go.

The problem is not his lyrics or his actions. the problem is that he has no talent whatsoever and is followed merely for looks. also the OP did the mistake of claiming that Justin TImberlake is in the same legue as MJ. how can anyone take you seriuosly after that.

Frankly, i mostly just avoid him. Hes one of those 5 minute starts that stayed up a bit too long. Luckily, everything about him has died down already and he will return to abyss of noone cares.

It's exactly as valid as "he has no talent".

Because he does.

He can hold a tune, and has excellent beat and rhythm (he does well on drums). Sure, he's not the best performer out there, but he's younger than ME. Cut him some slack, he's not done vocally maturing yet.

It's kind of alarming how many people confuse "I don't like him" with "he has no talent whatsoever".

Probably because they don't mean it that way. They mean how he represents himself and what he's done for the music industry. Many old musicians are called the greatest because of how they innovated and how they inspired more of that new sound or what ever they did that was unique, it's one of the most important attributes to a lot of people.

I never had any strong feelings towards him. I'm not a fan of him. I don't like his singing voice, but I'm not throwing a fit shit over that he's popular, because even if he is: So what? I'm not affected by his popularity like apparently so many others are.

I honestly don't think that Bieber is a bad pop musician, which is why I look upon modern pop music with such distain.

1) I don't like vocals in music.

2) Especially ones that hold a tone for several beats.

Beiber's music doesn't violate rule 2 that badly but he trips up on rule 1.

So while his music is pure pop which I don't bother with, he isn't bad.

Ok no. I will contend that Beiber gets too much hate, but ONLY on the grounds that his target audience is young/teenage girls, not 20 something year old boys. I don't like him because I'm not meant to like him.

But ok, shove Bieber in my face and say "can't we admit this isn't that bad" and yes, I will in fact fight you on that. First off, aside from the obvious and blatant use of extreme digital effects in place of where a jazz or blues singer (or even your example, michael jackson) would add feeling to their voice, subtle autotune can be heard through this song in its entirety. Ignoring that, I could probably count the times that justin goes outside of the same D, D#, C, G# (all within the range of under half of an octave) on one hand. At the end harmony part he does sing higher up (his highest and lowest note sung are about an octave and a full step apart and are hit twice and once respectively) but the EXTREME use of autotune would seem to suggest he can't hold tone very well when exerting his range. Average human vocal range is about 1.5 octaves, making Justin's vocal range as displayed in this particular song entirely unimpressive.

One thing I will say about this music and video is that it's very well produced and the cinematography is good. Justin's acting is... well it is. Some of the best shots in this were wide angled, or silhouetted, or quick cuts. Justin is able to portray the part of someone standing in place and singing or doing stuff in wide angle or being quickly cut away from. Not exactly noteworthy but passable. So the only good thing I can say about Justin Bieber is with an extremely professional production team and a huge budget he can look passable and not sound like shit. Oh yes, I'm so awestruck at the moderate amount of talent that this marketable teen heartthrob can appear to have with millions of dollars in production funding.

Ok, I just wasted all this time typing that out. This is the part where you laugh at me and tell me the joke's on me, right? ...Right?

I think his music suxs, but i'm indifferent to him. Don't hate him, just don't give a shite. If his music comes on i end up changing channel. That being said, i think today's mainstream pop music has gone down hill or i'm looking through rose tinted glasses of better music in the past heh.

I don't hate him at all, I merely dislike his music. I just choose to ignore him for most part, the only time I don't is when listening to Relient K's cover of Baby which is quite great.
On a random note, I was just scrolling through this thread listening to Come right out and say it, off Five Score and Seven Years Ago. Just one of those strange moments when you are listening to a band and then suddenly read their name. Especially considering you don't often see Relient K mentioned around the interwebs.

OT: I think he actually is quite talented in his own way. Hell, there's no way I could do a lot of what he does. However he does come off as quite a big douche, and a tad thick. I agree though with the predominant view that he isn't hate worthy.
