so yeah, it was an awesome time, completely not what I expected at all

It sounds strange to me not to read the other ones after enjoying one. After all, there is still 80% of the plot out there.

It's because of "the feels". Need some time to recover from the emotional overflow. That's what happened for me, at least.

I have to say that if it was not the most akward scene in the game then it certainly ranked up high. Especially when Hisao sounded like he wasn't bothered when he fell and that the day could have gone better. I do have to question his mentality though. His thought process was that "I didn't express any specific interest in any girls before this festival and instead of try and hang out with one of said girls to see if something might happen later on, I'd rather hang out with Kenji whom I don't really like that much but whatever". And then of course it became "Ooo Whiskey..." or something along those lines. But it is strange when you hear what Kenji has to say during that ending. Since he breaks the fourth wall in a sense and comments on the player or actually Hisao's degree of control over the events in his life. Also it's funny when Kenji talks about his ex-girlfriend here and in Shizune's path.

On a separate note, I think our position as the player in this VN is Hisao's conscience rather than the character himself seeing as rather than dictating who he is, we just help him make some critical decisions that slightly influence his character. What do you guys think?

as for the rest... idk, he probably just went up there to see what's up and stuff like that, and then one thing got to another and suddenly alcohol+gravity
though I personally found Kenji to be funny at times, but incredibly annoying the rest, that and his theme

I played this while act 1 was still in beta, a few years ago. So, as much as I dislike the hipsterism of it, yes, I played Katawa Shoujo before it was cool.
I will defend this game until the end of time. It's emotional, it's great to look at, you really can mold the protagonist according to your whims, I just really, really like this game, and NOT a fetish sim.

More than slightly, but yes. Hisao's meant to be a character you explore in the same way you explore the characters of the girls you choose. I think the decisions have an unreasonable amount of weight behind them, but the level of control you actually have over Hisao is very very small, especially if you've looked at the KS game-flowchart. The actions have so much weight simply because designing a more complicated choice-set into the game would greatly increase the amount of time spent making the story, and trying to 100% would be tedious since every choice would mean less, but you'd have to run through many similar paths to achieve the completion.

I can agree that the actions have a lot of weight for how subtle they seem, but I do feel they are, in general at least, relevant to what kind of character he is. If you chose to have Hisao introduce himself to the class it could be considered that he is a somewhat extroverted person. If you chose to have him not he could be considered more introverted. Subsequently, Hanako and Lilly are more comfortable with the slower paced introverted type whereas Shizune really admires go-getters. Stuff like that.
