It's definitely unfair, but he really should be playing with kids of a higher skill level.

You know how it works with us, get the kid to leave the noob server

The kid clearly doesn't care, and he already knows he is the best. It is really the only way of making the other kids not feel bad about their own skills.

Not only unfair, but retarded.
"We'll motivate them to be better by stop the good ones from playing" That's a great logic.
Just imagine it in a video game. An admin tells you that you snipe too many people so you must stop killing them. Or your Marine army in SC2 is too big so you need to kill some of them.
The second example make perfect sense.

That's just stupid. I go to Gilman in Baltimore, and we have great football. For the second year in a row we had someone elected to the under armour all american football game, last year Darius Jennings, this year Cyrus Jones. THat rule is like saying that they can never play football again after the game. It's just stupid that they're stifling his talent.

You want to stop someone from scoring? Stop him yourself. Don't expect the refs to do it for you.
That's kinda what I was thinking.

Sometimes you'll have people or things in life that do things better than you. You can either keep taking the beating, or learn and adapt to get better and stop the thing that's beating you.

They don't stop the good ones from playing. They stop the good ones from dominating the field too much. This kid is clearly excellent and will probably reach far. His opponents could probably learn a lot form playing against him because he's a tough one to beat.
His team mates however will be held back from reaching their potential because he does most of the work. It will also be a good experience for the kid himself to work on different strategies.
If this had been professional football on the other hand I would be strictly against it.

Sounds like a good idea to me. This is a children's league, it is not supposed to be highly competitive. It is supposed to provide children with a chance to play the game and gain an appreciation of the game, not to determine who is the best grade school football team. We already know how good this kid is. He will go on to do great things. But for now, lets not rub it in everyone's faces how inferior they are.

This type of children's league is not for the great. It is for the mediocre to have a chance to actually play the game before hard reality sets in and they never have a chance to play the game proper again.

The kids fine with it, the rule is lenient, it only is in effect until next year, and the only ones bein limited right now are his own teammates which will change now that the rule gets put in place. Now...why is this an issue again?

Another way to say everyones special is no one is special, remember kids, you can't be good at anything because that means its unfair, so don't practice or anything!

But as far as this goes, its not a big deal if the kid is fine with it and its only for one year, just the mindset behind the decision is what gets me

I'm sorry, but that seems really frickin' retarded, and coming from me that's saying something because I used to suck at sports in school. In fact I still do. Why are we punishing this kid for doing well?? I know they they say that's not what they're doing, but... yeah it is.

Wait, what? you mean teenagers have a stronger self esteem than kids!?
Yeah I do, a fifteen year old isn't gong to go home and cry himself to sleep because he lost.
Ehh, plenty of fifteen year olds go home and commit suicide after being bullied.
A kid just cries and tells his parents/teacher/whoever.

I'm not sure if there's a study out there or anything, but I'd wager that a teenager has more fragile self esteem than a child.

In today day in age, especially in the 'Cans it was bound to happen to someone. Parents are all about equality and teamwork and making everyone feel special. If the kids is somehow bothered by the fact he is so good they had to re instate an old rule, then he should come live in Laramie. Around here your treated like a god by a majority of the public if you can pass around a ball even slightly good.

That is the single most idiotic thing i've ever heard it's like saying to a kid getting good grades "your doing just a tad to well we'll just change some A's to D's to even out".
I like the way you think.

I can't wait 10 years to see if the little dude makes it to the NFL :)

Also, has anyone else seen the film "Harrison Bergeron"? Or, better yet, read the book of the same name by Kurt Vonnegut?

Calm the fuck down people. These are sports we're talking about. Because the kid is so good he's inhibiting other players by preventing their growth from occurring. There's nothing wrong with what's been done here, it's just giving other players a chance on the field to exert themselves the same way this kid has.

The idea behind all this isn't to penalise the kid for being good. The idea is to let other, less skilled players, have a chance at playing and getting better, because otherwise all they're ever gonna do is rely on the star player.

Frankly, if I was that kid I'd be chuffed to pieces with my little self. 'I'm so good they have to stop me from breaking the game!' >>
