I was diagnosed with AD/HD when I was about 7 if I remember correctly. As far as I'm concerned I just get distracted more easily ( so they tell me ) , and its the reason I got extra learning support through high school n junk. I'm in College now and i'm just trying to deal with it on my own terms. Its not exactly a life changing disorder for me, but i've been told it would've been had I not had the support...And they're probably right...it is killing my biology grades at the moment :( I think it might possibly be a learning disorder on par with Dyslexia maybe?

Asperger's:

Love that guy.

Edit: ZAch055, you should back your statements up with evidence if you're gonna call me and quite a few other people stupid. (True) ADD kids who are actually thoroughly tested generally have an IQ 15-30 points higher than their peers.

AS being diagnosed with ADD I find it offensive that these fakers can pretend to have ADD and use the excuse "I FORGOT TO TAKE MY MEDICATION" to get away with bullshit. It's sickening.

This and Autism are both over diagnosed by doctors currently, mostly because parents want excuses for little Tommy and Suzy being either too lazy or stupid to do their schoolwork instead of making the little brats do the work themselves (aka lazy parenting.)

How does one misdiagnose Autism? That seems strange to me. If a six-year-old kid inexplicably beat the shit out of me after crying because I closed the front door to my house, I'd venture to say that boy's autistic.

ADD isn't even as bad as most people think it is.

it's very easy to control with little training (neuro-feedback)
it's really not a big deal.

you're describing a more ''classic'' autism.
although the most common kind is pdd-nos,and it is very easy to fake.(i know it because i have it).

people didn't even realise i had it till i was 14.

Attention Deficit Disorder. We've all heard of it, and I'm sure it really affects those of us unfortunate to have it.
At my high school a lot of kids seem to have some sort of condition or someone that allows the line "I didn't take my medicine this morning" to appear in an every day conversation. Personally, I think these particular kids are faking. Typically they're emo or scene kids.
Ever notice this? Kids faking ADD or something similar?

i dont think ADD exists actually. in my personal opinion its just the parents not spanking them enough when they were little.

in my native country if u didnt sit down pay attention and shut up while the teacher was talking you would get beat with a stick. amazingly no one had ADD everyone just sat down and listened.

I always find these kind of things weird, i barely hear of ADD within the UK yet the way it sounds its fairly common within America (common that most of you seem to actually be able to name someone with it unlike me). Yet in England we have loads of people with Dyslexia, whilst other countries have next to none. Both do sound like it's just a failure in our schooling system, although i do believe people will have it just that it's largely over diagnosed.

Yes, they even wanted to put me on the meds when I was little (I was doing fine, but my teacher would get frustrated when I answered all of her questions correctly, after spending the entire day staring out the window).

Luckily my parents were smarter then that, and refused to put me on a drug which I didn't need.

I've heared one or two people claim they have it to get out of trouble, but I don't think I've met anyone who actually has it.

I've had friends who have been diagnosed with ADD. For some reason, they're not very popular, but I think they're kind of fun to be arou

Well, your equivalent of the DSM-IV is very much at odds with ours, so that makes sense. But no, you're overall far better educated than us.

Though my sister tells me you're not nearly polite as your actors would have us believe :)
