Attention Deficit Disorder. We've all heard of it, and I'm sure it really affects those of us unfortunate to have it.
At my high school a lot of kids seem to have some sort of condition or someone that allows the line "I didn't take my medicine this morning" to appear in an every day conversation. Personally, I think these particular kids are faking. Typically they're emo or scene kids.
Ever notice this? Kids faking ADD or something similar?

If they've been diagnosed, I'll accept it. If they haven't, I'll tell them to get diagnosed.

I usually find its little assholes in schools which usually claim to have ADD. I think in some cases its true but a lot of parents have jumped on the bandwagon to absolve themselves of blame when their little bastard gets into trouble for the fiftieth time in a month.

ADD.... one of the biggest cons out there.

American kids take so much medication now a days that good parenting could easily resolve.

Why would someone fake ADD?
Attention, as an excuse for things, so they appear more 'special', to stand out from the crowd.

These are school-goers after all. Anything for a little extra attention.

I am rather offended by some people on these forums who call people with add freaks

Most people who say that they have ADD are lying. I really don't believe half of the people who say that they have it. I mean, in school no one likes to pay attention. It's much easier to blame it on a self diagnosed disorder that most likely doesn't exist in this person than to say "I wasn't paying attention." People try to drug kids for every little thing.

EDIT: Also, if you read the Wiki page for it, under "Symptoms" it lists basic characteristics of any elementary school student as in having trouble listening to directions, not wanting to sit still, and not being patient. If you've ever gone into a 2nd grade classroom, this could describe nearly every single student there. It's not ADD, it's immaturity if anything.

It sounds fake to me. Like I believe that the only reason some things happen is because we think they will happen. And example is a sugar rush. I have people seen people say "Ohhh, I'm on a sugar rush!" but then I say "That was fake sugar dipshit, Splenda isn't real" and then they say "Ohhh....hahaha....akward."

Energy drinks are another one. First time I had one, I was expecting some major rush. And I did feel a bit energized. Second time however, I wasn't expecting much of a change, and there was no noticable change. I seriously do believe that "Being Hyper" is just a state of mind, like hypnosis or sleep.

ADD, along with OCD, is the most common "Self-Diagnosed" illnes (i.e Oh-Em-Gee I can't pay attention in History, IM SO ADD >_<. Along with, I always flush after I pee, IM SO OCD!!!)

I can't stand the word "hyper" because people use it synonymously with "funny." My example would be the YouTube character Fred. In all honesty, sugar and caffeine hardly give an enormous rush, but people think it does. Kind of like a placebo. It's more for attention than anything else. Like when kids are told that they aren't allowed to have sugar because it will make them hyper, when they have sugar they will pretend to be hyper. Mostly for attention.

Exactly. I would say about 98% of being "Hyper" is just the person in question believing they are Hyper. The other 2% is some kind of stimulus that puts them in this mind set(like coffee).

And on a side note, I strongly dislike Fred. He is very fucking annoying.

You obviously have never met a person who thought they had ADD and wanted attention for it.

I think ADD is fake (well at least 90% of the people that are diagnosed with it). My friends nephew was diagnosed with it and yet he sat down in front of the TV for 6 hours watching Yu-gi-oh prior to that. I really doubt that kid has ADD; he is just six. There is also a lot of other people I have heard similar stories from.

I have heard of it. My brother has it. Unlike ADD I think this is real.

Hey me too! Also been diagnosed with dysthymia, a mild form of depression.

Quite true. My experience with the system is that it's all driven by harmaceutical companies. If someone shows any sign of variance from a standardized norm, they are typically placed under some medication de jour with no real justification.
