Most video games nowadays require little or even no skill ( or so it seems ). So my question today is: What is the last video game you played that required any for of skill to play ?

EDIT: people are saying all games require skill, one that required 0 skill whatsoever off the top of my head is Kirby epic Yarn. You cannot die, thus as long as you have working fingers you will be able to complete the game, it will take longer if one has a mental deficiency , granted, but one will eventually finish it. imsure theres other examples of extremely easy or games that dont require skill but i just cant think of any atm.

Unless the game is playing itself for you, every single game in existence requires skill on one level or another. Whether it's Portal 2 which requires critical thinking skills, Call of Duty which requires fast reflexes, precision and tactical thinking, or even Plants vs. Zombies which requires proper utilization of resources and strategic placement of defenses, all games require skill.

SWAT 4, I guess. Not allowed to go in, guns blazing, and your enemies are sufficiently cunning and vicious to make it a bad idea.

Great friendly AI and co-ordination, though, except for the odd terrible fuck up.

The World Ends With You

Probably the only game I have right now, that I haven't been able to get the hang of yet. Than again it's mostly due to the fact that the game registers attacks as movement and vise versa.

Bit as all people above me have said. All games require skill, some just require different ones

All games require a skill of some sort. But, not all of them are challenging. If you're looking for a challenge, try QWOP out for size. If you can run in this game, then you have a "skill" that very few have.

P.S. It can be done.

I guess witcher 2 required some skill, you can't stand around in one place and mash buttons.
Also audiosurf, my friends suck at it compared to my skills!

This week I've been playing Vanquish and Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising. I'd say they both require quite a bit of skill. Vanquish because it is very fast-paced and some of the enemies are quite tough, and OpFlash: DR because of its realism.

All games require some skill, some more than others.

Recently, I'd say Demon's Souls, F1 2010 and Mortal Kombat.

I love that game. I'll never forget a friend of mine who played CounterStrike for a living, playing that game with us. He raged all the way through, before quitting because the game "cheated".

Vanquish. Bullets are literally flying all over the screen sometimes, and you have to shoot them all. you also need quick reflexes for the quick time events.

I'll assume you mean skill, as in, some sort of training, either through other sources or in-game training sessions, is required to fully venture throughout the game. That said, I can only thing of is Dwarf Fortress.

And also maybe SWAT 4, as it takes time to learn the RoE and how to know when to actually shoot and not when to shoot.

EDIT: Can't believe I forgot about Touhou

Are you sure we're talking about the same Call of Duty? Its mostly run, shoot, die, complain about lag, and then someone throws in the occasional racial slurs.

Edit: Games that do require skill would be most fighting games unless you just mash all the buttons and games like Portal I guess.

Worst... game... ever...

I sat there for like half-an-hour trying to do it.
Let me introduce you to QWOP's friend.

OT: As has been said, all games require skill, so the last one was the last one I played, which was Magicka. Last game I played that had an above average difficulty... Super Meat Boy.

I'm referring more to the first Modern Warfare, but regardless, all Call of Duty's require some measure of skill. This is more obvious in the singleplayer; multiplayer is more "I saw you first!"

Lessee here...

Guild Wars (The skill of research, timing, knowing how to make an effective build from experience as well as research...)

Mortal Kombat (It's a fighting game...)

Minecraft (Research)

Warhammer 40K 5th ed. (Tactical knowhow, the ability to paint itty bitty figurines, knowing how hard and where to hit someone with a crowbar when they put 3 @*$&!#& Monolith's on the table...)
