I wasn't a fan of Tali.

Kaiden, on the other hand, was an enormous badass. I'm pretty sure he killed a douchebag teacher WITH HIS MIND when he was a teenager.
That's the only time he was ever a badass.
Fair point. He still beats most of the others though.

However: Wrex beats him in badass, because Wrex is pretty much defined by that word.
Garrus beats him in badass because of his no-holds-barred approach to catching bad guys. You follow his back story with the organ doctor guy, and he's pretty 'Dirty Harry'. Also he makes that awesome shot in the med clinic. And Turians look/sound cool.

Actually, know that I look at it... Kaidan is the least badass male on the team. Still, he beats Tali. She never did anything for me.

She also reminds me of Mission Vao, the whiny little brat.

No, but Tali reminds me of Mission.

Well the humans in Mass Effect weren't very well done at all they were xenephobic and boring, dry. military stereotypes for duty and all that jazz. Well at least thats the opinion I got although Garrus was self absorbed at least it was in a funny he always wants to do bad ass anti hero type things. Werx although good at heart makes nice jokes. Tali having a sheltered existance is literally a space princess which makes her ask funny question. L'iara well someone had to be a Scientist and it was her and she fills that socially awkward void so well.

From the votes so far noone likes the humans.
Kaiden is the most boring one for me and always gets left behind.
Kaiden is really useful in the final fight, you can really walk that last battle with a biotic team!
Thats what Liara is for :p
Liara AND Kaiden = Walkover!

But Tali is so useful when hacking shit man, but on the other hand I absolutely loved Mission, she was such a sweetheart, and...

I felt horrible dismissing her since I was an evil ass Revan when I played that game, but sacrifices must be made. =-)

Ashley - Written as actual human, can be made a nice person but she is only a tank and that has little use.
Kaiden - Little emo but a cool character, useful skills but dies easily
L'iara - VERY annoying and bland, her personalty doesnt fit her combat but she is amazing to have as teammate.
Wrex - Wrex: Shepard Shepard:Wrex He is my buddy.
Garrus - I do not use him much but he is a beast when you make him sniper rifle orientated, also making him either into either a balanced paragon or regenade with renewed ambition is great.
Tali - Amazing when grouped with wrex or Liara, nice personality and good lore behind her race, downsides is she dies really fast.

Going with Ashley as least favorite in combat. Liara as least favorite as Character.

I used Garrus for my hacking.

I murdered her, and then her giant carpet. And I didn't feel bad about it.

Ashley for being a racist xenophobe.
Well, she just annoyed me anyway, but at least I can use that as a justified reason to never use her :3
Well I respect your opinion but personally I actually kinda liked her, she wasn't entirely racist. I mean yes she had some prejudices but really it was clear that these were more values past down by her family that she was just following and there are indications she doesn't fully believe them and of course in optional conversation trees you can get her to change her worldview. Whatever, her attitude was just a joy to watch on screen as was her playfully flirty nature with Shepard.

As for me I too must join the crowd of people against Kaiden. Not that I actually dislike Kaiden mind you, I actually thought he was alright but compared to Wrex, Garrus, Liara, Tali and Ashley it was obvious that he was the weakest link. I mean I liked the squad because each of them had a reason to be there after Saren, which I'll explain:

Garrus: Had always suspected him and wanted to be involved in his capture
Wrex: Was a bounty hunter joining the team out of debt to Shepard and having a personal grudge against Saren for what he was trying to do to the Krogan (I.E mass produce them as slaves)
Ashley: Last survivor of Eden Prime, brought on the Normandy and now is motivated by revenge.
Tali: Owes a life debt to Shepard which she aims to fullfil.
Liara: Put into protective custody on Shepard's ship.

But Kaiden just seemed to be always there without really proper motivation. I didn't dislike his character, I just realised that for the sake of story Wrex and Ashley had more reason to remain then him.

That's sort of like saying that Joker, the doctor woman and the navigator (Pressly? Was that him?) didn't have a reason for being there. He was an enlisted soldier assigned to the Normandy, like all the faceless guards on deck. He just runs out and shoots stuff with you, because he has biotic skills.

Edit: Also there was the matter of saving the galaxy. That's a pretty good motivator imo :p

I don't get all this Kaiden is useless business, MY Kaiden is never useless! Maybe you are 'auto levelling', him? I don't auto level my characters at all I find them far more useful if I make the choices.
For example I always push my own character's security and computer skills so Kaiden doesn't need them they are points I can spend on other things for him.
Edit - I can't help thinking that this might be a male/female issue :-S

Kaiden, but mainly because he's and absolute tool. The only good thing I can think of about him is he has the same voice actor as Carth Onasi from KotOR. That game was win.

But Mass Effect is win-er

Most of the time I play the good guy in games where you get the choice, because playing bad feels so unnatural. For example, I've never finished an evil Fable 2 playthrough, because it feels wrong working against the carefully set out social system. You're above retribution, so there's no challenge or structure.

But in KotOR,
I was given a perfectly reasonable choice between good and evil, and in that case, evil just appealed to me more.

This. Oh God, this. Everything bad about an alien would be as a result of the fact they were an alien. She was no love-interest to me, she was just...scary.

Kaiden, relatively useless in gameplay mode (You want Biotics you take Liara, tech you take Tali)and I just could not develop an interest in the character.
