It's most likely the next game I'll buy. Play the demo tomorrow and find out. :)

They're not EA yet, but L4D2 (based on the demo) is just more L4D. I doubt it's going to make any new converts and a fair few people are going to cry foul at having to pay for something that does feel like a large update rather than a new game.

Having said that it's really run with with the bigger/more theme, even in the demo the extra weapons made a real difference to the gameplay. The new infected mix it up quite effectively as well, the jockey and Charger completely buggered up my team that's well rehearsed in dealing with Tank/Smoker/Hunter/Boomer, that's good. The rolling crescendo event is genius too.

Compared to what EA/Actibliz come up with in annual sequels it seems to be a much better value effort. I think if you can get it for £25 or less it's worth it, but like L4D I wouldn't have paid full retail (£50) for it, unless it turns out to be massive when it comes out.

The two maps in it seem lackluster. Not much in the way of colour (sure the No Mercy demo was mostly desaturated blues but it did have lots of splashes of colour throughout the two maps).

I'm getting tired of people bagging out EA. Yes what they're doing with The Sims sucks, but as long as they can continue to publish awesome games like Brütal Legend, then I think they deserve some respect.

OP: I probably won't. I live in Australia and my friend got paid one of his friends in America to gift him American L4D2 on Steam. When I heard on what we are missing out, it makes me want to burn down the OFLC. Besides, I need to get Borderlands.

I want L4D2, but probably won't get it for a while, I'm too busy so wil just play what I've already got for now. As for the EA thing. EA are doing pretty good at the moment of not totally whoring everything out. They've released a few good new games, and there sequels are actually changing a bit, not just a minor graphics update.

Activision are the new EA, infact, worse then EA have ever been :/

I think Valve is releasing L4D2 so soon partway because this is what they wanted to do in the first game and didn't have the time to program it in, and to also counteract undiscovered player stratages that they didn't think of (like huddling).

Huddling was basically what killed L4D in the long run. Even with the melee nerf if your team sits in a cuboards with their backs to the wall, they've pretty much won. And it's not very fun to play this way, even though it's the easiest.

Thankfully all the new infected seem to be geared towards stopping this (Spitter can flush players out, Charge causes more damage if your all huddled together and, to a lesser extent, the Jockey can grab and pull you out). I'm not sure whether I'll get the mad rush I got from playing L4D for the first time, but there's always hope.

It's not bad.
It's everything I expected to be. A pretty good, linear zombie shooter that has fun co-op.
Not to correct you sir, but I think you mean EPIC Co-op. And the first guy mentioned something about Valve turning into money hording EA, dude, Valve is one of the few companies that relate to there customers. I mean, whom outside of nerds know who Jonathan Coulton is? VALVE DOES!

The Left4Dead games themselves are good, but the online community pretty much kills it for me.

Sorry, but what is this? They make a good game. They make a sequel to that good game. One sequel, that's all. And just because it's a little bit early, all the fanboys start ranting and saying that Valve should be lynched and boycotted and fed to Stephanie Meyer's rabid Mormon Vampires (not that the vampires will bother to kill them) for 'not supporting L4D any more'. Despite the fact that there is nothing stopping Valve from having more than one development team so they can work on several projects at once, and announcing more L4D DLC even after the L4D2 announcement (Crash Course, anyone?) and flying out the lead boycotters in an attempt to prove all this. They make a single sequel to a good game, and suddenly they're the new EA? No. I don't buy that for a second. Basically, the people who think that are idiots. No offence to you, OP, I'm not saying you are one of these idiots. But the people who think that Valve are becoming money grabbing corporate demons are just ignorant and idiotic and should seriously look at all the facts. And for the record, yes, I do intend to buy L4D2, when I can afford it. I currently suffer from a lack of money brought on by being a student and not finding a part time job. But when I can get the game, then I will.

LoL, Crash Course, can't say I like that campaign just from the sheer lack of levels. I agree with you about Valve though. Valve is one of the very FEW game devs. that listen to their community. Valve is definitely not becoming EA.

I find myself less entertained by L4D since playing the demo of L4D2. It's just so much more fun and I'd sacrifice a zombie baby to have that game already. Two more weeks!!
