Agreed
Wait. You're not going to buy what is essentially an FPS in favor of something that's a completely different in terms of both gameplay and story?

You're super special.

Loved the first one, so why not?

Saying "Do not quote" gives a reason for people to quote. Just accept the idea of quotes...That, or turn the quote notification off.

I just don't really see the warrant for a full-priced game here. It has a lot of new content, but it just doesn't seem fresh enough. If you know what I mean.

Looks good, might be better than the first one. Will they ever find a character better than Bill? No.

I don't like Rochelle, but Coach and Nick look like my favourites at the moment.

The new infected are really interesting and finally good at making people stop corner camping and make it easier for hunters to pounce straggling survivors. Did versus mode feature in the demo? If so can you tell me what the new infected are like to play as?

I have the first one (L4D), and I'm still enjoying it. I have no need for the second one, so in order to fill that gap for a new zombie killing game, I'm going to wait for Dead Rising 2. And thanks for the compliment, you made my day but in all fairness you seem super duper special :)

Versus mode was not part of the demo. However through use of a server plugin and console commands you can play as the new infected against a team of bots.

The Spitter is very fun to play as, but it can be challenging. Your goo is powerful but it can be easily avoided if you don't spit in the proper location. The Spitter is also very vulnerable after spitting as you are temporarily slowed down, increasing the need for you to ambush the survivors. Being infected at Spitter involves memorizing the best choke points on the map and waiting for the survivors to become distracted by something (such as a Horde, Charger, or other SI) so you can get a good spit off.

The Charger also requires a good amount of patience. If you simply charge towards the survivors blindly, you will be quickly killed. Being a successful Charger involves knowing when it would be most effective to charge. You want to be able to grab a survivor and stun the maximum number of his teammates. The Charger is particularly effective when Survivors are forced to bunch up in narrow corridors or tight corners. You can be a valuable distraction that allows the other infected (like the Spitter or Boomer) to get into position for a good shot at the survivors.

As for the Jockey, I really can't say because I've barely played as him.

Thansk for the analysis, I've heard the spitter does insane amounts of damage. I hope it's true, but I think the spitter can only work in conjunction with an infected that specialises in attacking survivors quickly running away from her acid like the hunter. Or even better a smoker pulling them straight back in.

Chet Falesek (think i spelled it wrong), the writer for l4d and l4d2, gave a bit of a hint that maybe the original for would make an apearance in l4d2. FINGERS CROSSED!

Excepting the fact I'd have the G-rated version (damn the OFLC for being idiots, and hopefully Valve can release a nice patch for all of us Aussies to help unlock all of the gore that we all treasure so much), I've found a few things about the new game rather interesting. I think they've found references to the original survivors in the game code (hope so, I don't mind most of the new ones but I've seen brooms with more interesting personalities than Rochelle).

New infected look pretty cool too, as well as the new gameplay mechanics and the story focus; I get the feeling that the final campaign will be the best thing since sliced bread, just because. I can't wait for the demo to be released for everyone (I refuse to pre-order a crippled version of the game, or one that I have to tweak too much) so I can play this through.

Spitter goo does massive damage if the survivors are forced to stay in it. However since it can be easily avoided if you are capable of moving, a lone Spitter will do next to nothing. So yes, the Spitter does indeed rely on other infected to deal damage. However, the other infected can also rely on the Spitter, as her goo can force survivors out into the open where they are exposed to attacks from other SI and hordes. Valve really did a good job with the SI, as they are all dependent on each other to work most efficiently, thus encouraging team work.

Also here's a tip; if you see an incaped survivor, try to melee them if you are not to far away. While they will easily kill you, the resulting goo puddle formed upon death will nasty damage to them. Particularly effective if the survivors teammates are preoccupied.

Well, Valve do a good job of making team games that ensure you work as a team.

I'm definitely getting L4D2 after finding out how to tweak the AU version to retain gore.
I think you need to take a little journey over here [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/9.81348?page=15#3665439] and read post 507)

Well, you could have mentioned that.

It sounded like you weren't going to play Harvest Moon because Spore was coming out, rather than you weren't going to play Harvest Moon because you played the DS version and that was enough for you.
