Can't say I miss the guy but since I'm pretty shitty with names, he's the only one I do remember particularly for his extreme hatred towards ME3 back in March. Man, that guy loved to cut down anything and everything regarding that game.

Hah, I shouldn't imagine much banning goes on over at his forum, Mellow Leprechauns. His modding style seems pretty relaxed, along with the rest of the general atmosphere of the site To be honest I rather liked it; I just don't have the desire to move away from the Escapist. Afraid I can't help you with his female friend a the minute though - no names spring to mind :\ Also, Cuthberton even got the full profile deletion treatment by the looks of it, so yeah, he's very banned.

Yeah, really the only thing the Reaper and Daystar have in common is their celebrity status. Both of them got high post counts pretty quickly, which is part of what made Max known - this was back in 2009, before User Groups and even counts of like 2500, 3000 and 5000 were massive milestones, unless you were NeonBob But yeah, Max got a high count quickly and ha a pretty abrasive attitude at times. Like, sometimes I assumed bits were simply sarcastic, and some of it looked like arrogant exasperation, but there was definitely too many moments of actual bile. To be honest, it seemed to me to be a thing at the time. NecroSwanson was a similar case, if I recall correctly. Definitely unlike Daystar, and that's for the better.

Oh dear but she was irritating.

I managed to find myself in a couple of her threads saying such and such Japanese game is great and anyone that hasn't heard of it has shit taste, and one about men not being as likely to be raped.

I didn't like her.

I can count on one hand the amount of people I don't like that i've seen on this site ... it's one.

You gotta admire the fact that she DID in fact leave, and stay away (unlike certain other people who say they're leaving, but come back again anyway).

Ah, so Katatori-kun is back, hmmm? I haven't been down to R&P much since the presidential election was over, but I haven't seen him there at all when I was there. Curious.

OT: It turns out that @reonhato had 7 different accounts (including @reonhato @sukoru @pyrate @pyrate27 @imawesome) and actually mocked and taunted the Mods on the Mod Team chat room about their utter inability to stop him or search him out.

It took Kross about 5 seconds to hack the accounts, find out the Poster's real identity, etc.

I had a look just now and it is exactly how I always pictured the inside of their heads. I'm a bit afraid to close my eyes now. It also seems to be haven for Escapist refugees, I've encounteres Cuthberton and several other names that sounded familiar.

Just thought maybe you remembered her, since you brought up Furburt and Hub. But I guess I don't really have much to go by and I don't care enough to go through forum archives to dig up clues. Let's let the dead rest in piece.

I got here around the time he was banned, but Danyal losing his shit in the mod group was one of the funniest goddam things I've seen. xD

I started following the Mod Group Team Chat room just to watch his final meltdown.

JoJo was right. His final crash--full of whinings--was pathetic. He reduced himself to ranting about the Mods not appreciating his superior understanding that Islamic religion automatically leads Muslims to being inclined towards same gender rape, etc.

He got infantile towards the very end. He accused Nasrin of being a Muslim in secret based on the evidence that her name isn't 'Jane Smith' or something anglicized.

...full of whinings...and pathetic.

I remember when people talked about some Posters having attitudes about having high Post Counts MaxTheReaper's name came up when a rather sour Poster complained about 'Forum Celebrities' getting away with having personality cults and breaking the rules all the time.

From the sound of it MaxTheReaper doesn't sound that much like Daystar, no matter how some people howl that Daystar breaks the rules all the time.

In fact, my impression of Daystar is that he tends to be easily one of the most light-hearted and least confrontational Escapists around. And I haven't seen him break rules at all, now that I think of it.

Maybe Daystar was more of a bad puppy in his youth?

Ehh, Daystar is more like how Max began as a user here. The reason Max became famous in the first place was for being able to massively derail any thread he got involved in (well, that and his massive p...postcount). His policy was to respond to anyone that quoted him, hence both the aforementioned characteristics. It was only after he became famous that his moderation record went from just low content/ off-topic posts to aggressive behaviour and insults.

OT: I remember plenty of those who were banned, though very few I would say I actually miss (WanderFreak and Hope Chest/Cheeze_Pavillion are the main ones I miss, if anyone remembers them). I would list some but most of the ones I know have either already been mentioned or don't deserve more attention than what they got before banning. Well this is an entertaining thread. The one who's absence I notice the most is IndigoDingo. He was a rabid PS3 fanboy but at least to his credit he attempted to back all his arguments up with logic. Whenever I see a PS3 bashing thread/post I still sit there and go "Indigo will be along in 3.. 2.. 1..)", but he never arrives. In a strange way I miss the guy. I think we shared a begrudging respect.

I mean, sure I'd heard of banjumping, but I had no idea that it was so prevalent.

But I get you about the ones who were finally banned for a silly mistake like a Low Content Post. Those are almost sad to see when it's apparent that the Poster was doing his/her level best to be civil and polite but slipped and posted too few words because they were watching their P's and Q's.

People who get banned then create new accounts and are discovered doing this are guilty of banjumping and are subject to instant banning.

The "Health Bar Abuse" I mentioned above in relation to @Wolverine18 is an example of people creating duplicate accounts to dodge being banned by spreading out the number of warnings they receive over multiple accounts.

It's not as easy to avoid detection as you might think, however. The Tech Team can track a Poster's IP and even close down said IP's access to the Escapist. That's what @renohata was warned of possibly happening before Kross stomped him like a bug.

A second reason avoiding detection isn't easy for some people is that their posting styles and subjects of interest become familiar to others after a while so it's easier for folks to detect more...intense and...unique (?) individuals.
