Poll: Let us remember The Banned...

I was banned for a bit.

I got better.

I was banned for several bits intermittently.

I also got better. (And I mourned the shit out of myself, obviously.)

Just wondering but how did you guys pull that off? I usally thought once they hit you with the ban hammer you're deader than Horus. I'm just glad that the people I know here keep their heads down and don't cause trouble, best way to stay off the radar.

As for me the only one I really mourn is "Swollen Goat", great guy but damnit, the mods don't mess around here. (That's not an insult towards the mods, just saying they don't mess around in terms of breaking the rules.)

I don't really remember anyone. 9 times out of 10 where I see someone was banned, I look at the post and go "Woah. SOMEBODY lost a little control." I guess I'm not as tied as some members of the Escapist community is. But some members of the escapist community makes me shuffle in my corner here and keep away. So I guess it's okay considering I probably do the same thing to a person or two.

C'mon, I'm an Inflatable Tent containing copious amounts of alcohol wearing a dog-suit chasing after salty nuts. You gotta look at that and say "This guy's a little weird."

Got better, then worse, then stopped posting for a bit and now I am posting this after a hiatus of, near a year I think.

OT:I remember HG131, Swollen Goat, not a lot of others because I can't remember if they are actually banned or decided to jump ship.

And now I'm going back to the basement.

I remember the troll king, Avykins, who managed to avoid mod-wrath far longer than anyone who pulled that stuff would have back then.

It's Avykins, lord of trolls! Whose troll-hide deflected many a well-deserved ban-hammer for a year longer than anyone acting like him would have.

Man, I've lurked here so long and I never really pay attention to people as much as avatars, so I can never remember the names of people who did crazy things and timelines all run together. I remember the good and bad of MaxtheReaper. I remember Daynal (I believe I'm thinking of the right guy). I remember Pimpeter providing a lot of interesting food for thought in R&P. Mostly Pimpeter because I actually kind of liked him. And there are probably several others that I don't know are gone or don't remember distinctively, but were here some time ago.

Well, I'll remember [user]Mortai Gravesend[/user]. They even removed his profile.

Yeah, I'll remember him First person on the Escapist I started to recognise and sympathise after I started visiting the forums (and later joined). I think he asked for the profile to be removed. I recall he was rather angry over the ban.

If I remember correctly he was more like "So I got banned and I don't think I'm getting unbanned" and then some face, probably -__- he used that a lot...
I do however recall him being angry at the mod staff before he got banned but it was over something else.

Well, I'll remember [user]Mortai Gravesend[/user]. They even removed his profile.

Why did they do that? Is it possible that Mortai Gravesend erased his own profile, if that's even possible?

You can't remove your own profile, only the staff can do that.

Though I'm not entirely sure why it happens to some banned people, but not others.

The infamous [user]MaxTheReaper[/user] has an inaccessible profile, so does HG131 which JoJo linked above.

If I recall correctly they said it had to do with who banned you more than anything else, but I'm not entirely sure, maybe I'll ask them.

I forget the guys name I miss. Still remember his avatar though. He got banned for getting into some heated debate, smart, funny guy.

And Daystar, he still posts but I never see them.

I remember Boudica, but I don't remember her losing it.

Grey Carter covered a news story about Phillipine's internet laws [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/7.389334-The-Philippines-Outlaws-Trolls-Cybersex#15609139] during which he specifically referred to girls and women who do on line sex shows as "Cam Whores".

Boudica just LOST it.

She raged at him in the story's comments section then raged at him in the Mod Forum chat room.

She reeeeeeeaaaaaaaalllllly LOST it.

She ended up getting something like 3 warnings in a row--I don't recall, but according to what I heard from one of the others she ended up requesting a ban.

That's what I remember--and what I recall being told. It's been a couple of months so someone else might remember more about it.

@Daedalus1942 is sorely missed. I think she stopped posting out of protest because Escapist said we couldn't discuss pedophilia anymore and that one open pedophile we had got banned.

Zeel is the only one I can distinctly remember. I think I might remember some of the others that people have mentioned but Zeel is the only one I recognize by name (I rarely remember any user names so you know he had to be a pretty special case). I actually remember finding him on some other forum (can't remember which one) where he had changed his name to Zeal and was trying to recruit people to flame these forums. He failed miserably.

I enjoyed reading this thread. I'm learning some interesting history of this site.

I managed to find myself in a couple of her threads saying such and such Japanese game is great and anyone that hasn't heard of it has shit taste, and one about men not being as likely to be raped.

I didn't like her.

Yeah, when she made that post i felt like i had to apologize for every fan of Touhou out there. T'was quite embarrassing.

I never keep track of these forum celebrities. I was around when Maxthereaper was still popular, but i didn't notice he was gone for a while. This post is actually making me realize that some of these people actually left. I never really liked them so i don't really miss them.

Some of the more entertaining ones I remember were Zeel (the whole Mass Effect 3 thing), Boudica and her extremely odd feminist topics.

Also, Mythrandia was..... Umm...

I don't know how to describe him/her.

Also, I hardly ever ran into Danyal, mainly due to avoiding R&P, but I observed his breakdown in the mod group.

And finally, lilithslave and her dramatic exit.

I'll be honest I "dance on their graves".
Quite rare but there have been users who pissed me off incredibly and once I see their health bars go into yellow I watch them like a hawk and make sure I bury their asses.
Granted there have only been a few, but I don't remember any of them except for Demented Teddy. I spent so much time and effort back when the Avatar Store usergroup was just a giant thread and worked hard to keep up with requests when it turned into a user group and she just pissed all over it, I celebrated the day she got shown the door.

I miss quite a few of them, if only for the potential discussion value, I love debating things with people, especially when they post agressively enough for it to get lively without actually turning truly angry, I was hoping to get to open up a debate in a thread with Mortai, but alas he was banned before I got the chance.

Although she wasn't banned, I really miss Aylaine. You can still see her once in awhile, but for the most part she isn't active on the Escapist anymore, she is a super nice and sweet person with an open mind and an open heart.
