I liked them back in elementary school... them and Korn seem to be good examples of bands that you like when you are a kid, but they suck when you are a teenager... well, seems that way to me at least...

This.
The first two albums were perfection. And then they turned into pussified pop rock wannabes.
And the new album will suck ass,how could you expect more?

Considering they changed their style mostly because they didn't like their fan base, Linkin Park can suck a big one. They developed a strong fan base and basically gave them the middle finger.
Actually, in a Kerrang interview, Chester said they changed their sound because nu-metal was no longer the big sound and emo was. In his words, they don't see the point in making an album they're proud of and not making any money from it.

I have to rule against what everyone has said so far. I love Minutes to Midnight. It is great. U2? Not even close you guys are crazy. Each of their albums has been great and I am looking forward to their new one.

From the previous responses, I think I'm probably going to be the only person on here who actually likes Minutes to Midnight. The first 2 albums definitely had their own unique style, and were awesome to listen to if angry, but they're really for when you're somewhere between about 12 and 16.

Minutes to Midnight was artistically and compositionally waaaaaay better than their first 2 albums, though admittedly was a lot more mainstream/easy on the ears.

I personally like both styles, and I don't really care that they went in a completely different direction. It took them like 14 months to make MTM, so it must be what they as a band really wanted to do, and how they really wanted it to sound, so I guess hooray for remaining true to yourself, and not the fans.

Well, that is generally what people do when they don't like someone. I see no issue.

Old Linkin Park wasnt bad some of the their videos were down right awsome. However new LP can suck a big one. They did the same thing all my favorites have been doing especially Theory of a Deadman. If I have to hear that stupid bad girlfriend song one more bloody time. Regardless of my rage bands have stopped being a form of art and mostly just a form of making money. There hasnt been to much in the terms of different or groundbreaking music lately that really changes things up, it is mostly just relationship whatnot or that generic sound all bands seem to have adopted. But I guess that comes with times now that being a rockstar is the "cool" thing to do.

My argument is whenever I think of a rockstar I think guy shacked up in a cheap hotel room a heroin needle in his arm and assorted hookers passed out on the floor. Now the general idea of rockstar is miley cyrus or the jonas brothers and being abstinent and doing things that are good etc. Everything has become commercialized and it sucks.

Linkin Park are one of my favourite bands. I'll say Hybrid Theory and Meteora are excellent and are as good as one another. Minutes to Midnight had a few good songs and the rest was very meh. Although i do appriciate them for trying something different.

I'm expecting their 4th album to be as meh as Minutes to Midnight though.

new divide was rubbish
New Divide...that's the new single, right? If so, yeah, that wasn't that great.

I do admit I wasn't a major fan of Minutes to Midnight, and if the new album is like that then I'll give it a listen, but I doubt I'll like it as much as I enjoyed Meteora.

First two albums were great minutes to midnight was awful and if the new one carries on in that vein then it'll most likely suck ass.

And theory of a deadman can fuckin do one as well! We already have nickelback in the world we need a wannabe nickelback like a sulphuric acid enema!

At the rate their going, it's more than likely going to be a complete waste of time. Their last album sucked and with that style, it's only down hill from there.

I was fine with the first 3 albums (hybrid theory, reanimation and meteora) but minutes to midnight was the worst excuse for CR4P I've heard in YEARS. I'm hesitant to listen to this upcoming album because of M2M

I loved Linkin Park back in my days as an angsty teenager. The first two albums, as people have said, were actually pretty good. I don't know if my taste evolved or if they just got really bad, (probably both), but I can't stand them anymore. I wouldn't even bother stealing their new CD.

Order of Albums (for those who would like to know):

Hybrid Theory
Reanimation (Remix Album)
Meteora
Collision Course (Remix Album)
Minutes to Midnight

On topic, I am of the personal opinion that Hybrid Theory was an excellent album, probably the consensus best material they produced. Meteora was essentially the same album with less quality and weaker tracks, nothing to really warrant purchasing. The remix albums all had some nice mash ups on them, but nothing worth purchasing the whole album. Minutes to Midnight is my favorite, though I do not think it is the best, album. Minutes to Midnight actually showed the capabilities of the band to gravitate away from the hard rock mixed with rap style to something more thoughtful and more complex. It was, at worst, a daring effort to do something different that many fans disliked. If you're not a fanatic Linkin Park follower you can see how most of it is really well done, but if you were looking for Hybrid Theory #3 you weren't getting what you asked for.

I mean, in all honesty, how much can you rip on a band for trying something different? If you keep churning out the same stuff over and over that's not a winning formula either. Case in point, The New Divide is EXACTLY THE SAME as What I've Done with different lyrics... is that honestly what we are asking for?

Of course I am one of the only people in America who still likes Korn, so take my input worth a grain of salt.

Hmmm, how can i put this...

Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

Linkin Park got old after Meteora, which is a shame but i cannot see a revival happening. Same case with Bullet for My Valentine - SAF was most definitely the nail in their coffin.

No clue. All I know is that I laugh at the faces of the people who say Minutes to Midnight is bad because it's not "original Linkin Park, boohoohoo". Either a band is a sell-out or their new music sucks when they change tunes. Be more original.

If it's similar to Minutes to Midnight it's probably gonna be worth a listen, though not as good as their old stuff.
