Are we going to start comparing LBP to GMod again?

Remember how poorly that went down for LBP last time?
Don't.
They're whining enough as it is.
Hey, I said that LBP pales in comparison to Garry's Mod on what they can do. LBP is very limited compared to Garry's Mod or Mods in general. Isn't that enough for you PC fanboys :U

With that said, however, it's still incrediblly diverse and complex in itself, especially considering that it's on a console nonetheless, as everything apparantly has to be dumbed down for a console.
No. yOu wIlL GroVeL aT ThE fEEt oF tHe PC MaSTer RaCe (My version of the Ultracaps).

You will stand down or be assimilated. Resistance is futile.

Alright alright, i'll give ya a break.
And I wouldn't call LBP over simplified but maybe a little dumbed down, but that's because it's on a console. Although you got it covered already =P.
Yes, LBP is simple compared to Garry's Mod, but it's simplicity gives it it's charm, like Indigo said.

However, it's the simplicity in the wrong places that make it simple compared to GM.

The good simple is the menu, how easy it is to make an elevator or some sort of contraption, and how light hearted it is.
The bad simple is how it doesn't have as much control as some of those hardcore-otaku-PC-juggernauts would like to have (like they do over mods).

But the good simple overrules the bad simple (simple simply sounds weird now...quite simply), and it is on a console so some things will have to be dumbed down, but a game like LBP giving so much power to the players on a console game is quite astounding.

LBP is too big for a DVD, so PC is the only alternative. Direct download and all that.

Why is it Jumplion and only a few others actually use their minds...If it's an exclusive...leave it that way! I have a PS3 and PC...I wouldn't care if it was ported but the 360/Wii/PC fanboys who want it for their consoles....damn it please understand the whole 'Exclusive' word. Yea some get ported anyways but some are NEEDED to stay alone with one console. Besides if you can't afford it...ignore it and cry at night it's the best way to live with yourself.

Sorry if I have annoyed anyone or hurt anyone's feelings but I have had enough of these threads. I feel dirty knowing I've just ranted but I can't help myself...I wish I could play loads of games on different consoles....but I'm prepared to wait and save up enough to buy the console it was designed to be played on.

I understand that LBP won't be on any other platform but Sony's since they own the game but the whole "exclusives are needed" must be some of the most hilarious crap I've heard. The only ones that need them are the companies, gamers really don't.

Even though I own neither a PS3 or a Wii, I think LBP would work on the Wii. It would probably even sell a darn sight better, and the Wiimote mechanic might be handy for some things. A PC port wouldn't hurt either, but I can't really see it taking off on 360, even if it worked.

I think it should be ported to the Wii, I have yet to play it but from what I see, it looks like it could be a great game for families and small children to enjoy.
the wii has nowhere near the graphical power to handle a ps3 game. It would have to be a pretty cut down port.

Why not add the option to port to PSP? That one makes the most sense. It's actually a Sony product, and it can more than hold its own in the graphics department.

Exclusives are needed to drive console sales. Otherwise every one would all buy the same console. I think the game industry went downhill last gen when most games went multi format. Its no suprise that, bar a few exceptions, (COD4 etc) that the best games of the past 10 years are exclusives ( MGS4, Halo, etc)

Personally, I think it should be ported to the computer, seeing as I don't own a PS3, but I do own a 360.

If it were to be ported to the 360, it would almost REQUIRE a download, and/or come with more than two discs.

That is true, but I'm just saying it would be a good game for the little kids and families.
Fair point and i see what you mean. However, i think its a necessary exclusive for Sony to show that there's something on the ps3 for every one. From the hardcore gamer, to families, to movie buffs lol.

It's the same as always, really. Check how many games on the PS1 were on the Saturn. Check how many games on the Genesis were on the SNES. A lot of the games we played were the same even then.

As for the whole "exclusives are needed", yeah, companies need them to get people to show interest in their platform. But here's the thing: the current way consoles are done is silly. Having a standardized system to play games on (much like the DVD players have currently; you have a standard and companies follow that) would really be everyone's benefit. Especially the gamers'.

I see what you mean, that the wider the audience reached, in theory, the better, but i have always been of the opinion that if there is only one console (or a standardized media, as you put it,) there will be less, or no, competition. Competition breeds innovation. Innovation leads to great games. The MGS, Halo, and Mario (before pretty much every game of his started being the same lol) of the world, if you will.

It's not like one company is responsible for all the DVD players or the movies that are out there.

I'm not seeing the problem there.

I really hate threads like this, not really sure what kind of name I should call them by oh well i will come up with something later.

Ok so an exclusive games does go multi-platform, why does this seem like the end of the world? The people that have a console with out the game gets it and well how does that take away from the people with the systems that already have it? All it seems to be is buying envy, some people feeling that they went with the wrong console and now instead of trying to admit that fact to themselves they are just lashing out by ruthlessly defending their system even thought there is no reason to do so.

Frankly I really don't care, unless Sony, in a flash of insanity, retracts the game and doesn't allow it on the online PSN so you can just make levels at home and not share them, which wont happen :p

Oh, don't use the J-e-f-f-e-r-s excuse now. You have exclusive content for certain versions of the DVD don't you? How about exclusive interviews with actors to get more ratings?

I think now's a good time to drop this [http://www.g4tv.com/thefeed/blog/post/690526/Sesslers_Soapbox_Game_Journalism_Exclusives_New_Yorker_holes.html]. Not sure if it's relevant in any way, but we'll see.
