I use them now and then, mostly for effect or out of laziness. I can't be bothered to type "Hahahah" for every joke I get cracked at me; it's boring and I look overenthusiastic.

It's the beginning of the end of language as we know it. It's absolutely ridiculous and it pisses me off when I have to wade through line after line of this crap which is why this is one of the only social-type places I ever go on the internet.

Only when people type in all-1337 text or in grammar that's more broken than World of Warcraft.

I despise when people use internet speak in conversations. I don't even like when I see it online or on text messages.

I will only use them online where time is a priority or insanely long ones to mock it. Ex. OMGWTGDMFSFH!!!

When I see people use these incredibly stupid abbreviations I can't help but feel like I'm dealing with someone who's slightly above the "vegetable" state. Look, it's "you", not "U", "are", not "R", and for the love of Jeebus use the proper context when using their, they're, there and/or you're and your. There's no excuse for that level of stupidity. I find more often than not the native English speakers get it wrong over the non-native speakers... that's just fucking sad.

I recall something someone said on IRC one time:
<smarter_guy_than_most> If you're going to talk to me, please don't type like you're being charged by the keystroke.

I can't help but feel like I'm watching the decline of civilization when I see some people type on IRC/Forums because it's becoming to prevalent. I do understand when there are constraints on the amount of data being sent. When texting for example, but that does not mean there's a need to sound like a drooling moron in other contexts.

Oh and one last thing: People who use "M$" to indicate Microsoft need to die the slowest, most agonizing death imaginable. 1995 called, they want their derogatory Microsoft slang back. And to think the people who use this most shit on Microsoft for not being "innovative" or that they "rip off" other things... irony, thy name is "Linux user".

When I see people what people type on the internet, I think of this:

I feel you can get your point across better without the use of lolspeak.
It can annoy me sometimes but i can live with it, just never using it.

Sometimes if you're texting and you only have a limited amount of characters and you're trying to tell a story without using up your texting limits it's okay. at least to me

I have no problem with an acronym here or there, or simply stating 'brb' when you need to go do something real quick, and can excuse laziness in text messages, because I don't blame them, but that's about it.

What I don't like is excessive use of 'u' or 'r' or any sort of needless abbreviation, where people will purposely sound illiterate because they lack any sentence structure when typing. You know. That stuff.

God it winds me up when people use it in every day language. Why say LOL when you are laughing? Just to make sure that the person who you are with is aware of it? Fucks me off something awful.

I don't mind that kinda thing, when used occasionally. I mean, if someone says something genuinely amusing in MSN then fine. Let them know it's funny. But using it all the time gets annoying, and I'm naturally a perfectionist, I like getting things right, even when typing. I prefer using proper(ish) grammmar and good spelling. So at times abbreviations piss me off.

But hey, that's just me. And I can still understand it, so I don't complain if other people want to use it.

The occassional use doesn't bother me. I'll even slip the odd one in now and again and MSN. That's it.

And never in actual conversation...

Internet speak is...strictly for internet. I don't mind it, as long as nobody uses it in a real conversation...should this be the case...I let them calm down for a while.

I think i am like most people when on msn and texting i will use LOL and gonna and wanna and the such but the rest i find sort of annoying. When people use them in conversation on the other hand they get a punch in the face.

I really don't mind them so much, but I guess if they're overused then it can get pretty mind numbing. I mean hell, my user name would is a "internet slang/abbreviation" for Seriously.

But there's some things that kill me on the inside. Like "wub" for love... Really? Wtf, man. It's LOVE for Christ's sake.

I use them when typing. Occasionally, I'll use them sarcastically out loud, but that's usually to mock other people who do so.
