It seems like it's been aeons since Halo: Combat Evolved appeared on shelves. Since then, there have been 4 sequels with a prequel in the making, a series of short films (Halo: Legends), a whole lotta fan art, and more. Halo was my first FPS besides having played Doom a couple times on a friend's SEGA, and I loved it. According to my brother, it's still the best Halo game out of all the others, including the story. Halo: ODST was my favorite in a lot of ways, but was way too short, and the free roaming mechanic, in my opinion, didn't reach it's full potential. I'm hoping to find a new favorite in Halo: Reach. Feel free to post comments about past Halo games and/or your thoughts on what Halo Reach will be like.

This has been done a lot, I will always appreciate halo for giving my true first FPS game that I really got into online. Since those days I have found greener pastures but hey you have to start somewhere.

Halo 2 for single player (never played CE), and Halo 3 for system link custom games.

*puts the flame shield up* Halo 1 is the one and ONLY halo i will EVER play. And only the Halo 1 for the PC cause it had awesome mods, and multiplayer.

I enjoyed the way the story was told in ODST but felt the Coop campaign was stronger in the first. Halo 2 is almost laughably bad in campaign mode.

multiplayer: halo:ce > halo 2 > halo 3

singleplayer: halo: ce > i honestly don't know which to put as second. I'm leaning towards halo 2 but i hated all the missions as the arbiter and the ending was awful

I have to say Halo 2, just for the sheer amount of time I put into that game, and the friends I made from it, some of who I still play with to this day.

I loved Halo 1 and 2. We had 4 rooms system linked all of my sophomore year(2007).
Still, i have never played a second of halo 3. I stopped caring.

I like them all for different reasons, but Halo 1 had the best story and arguably the best campaign, so it wins, I suppose. Halo 2 had the best multiplayer, and Halo 3: ODST has Firefight, but story-based campaign > multiplayer. For me, at least. And Halo was amazing in that regard.

Halo: Combat Evolved was my favorite Halo game, Halo 3 is in a close second though. Never played ODST, and Halo 2 was meh at best. I hope Reach is as good if not better then CE was/is.

It's a tough choice between 1 and 2. I'll go with CE because I did a little better in multi-player (I suck against people with beam-swords).

Halo: CE just for the single player was the best there. It was the only one where I thought I should fear the flood and I did, in Halo 2 they were annoying and 3 they were retarded (especially the ones that morph). But each felt epic at the end when it needed to be though, can't wait for Reach.

Halo 3. I definitely spent more time with that one; my first perfection almost had me screaming. Oh wait, I was. But I also got into the Halo franchise mostly with Halo 3 out, so I suppose it might be because that's the one I was first introduced to.

And, am I the only one worried about Reach becoming some bastard child of Halo's gameplay and CoD's perks and such? I know there was another thing that worried me about it, but I can't quite figure out what it was now.

I think living up to it's better predecessors and having to compete with games like Cod is the biggest problem. If there is a problem, i think it'll be because it was trying too hard
