I lost mine to an ex-boyfriend...so it was pretty bad T_T

It's not really overhyped if it's with someone special, but it tends to be an embarrassment when it's simply for the sake of sex itself insteado of a real connection with the person.

I sometimes wish I had my virginity back because I later found a wonderful guy whom I've been with for over 2 years.

Sex isn't that huge a deal.
With the right person, it can be amazing, but even then, losing your virginity isn't that big a deal.
It's nice, but meh. Like sex, it's not vital. It's a past time. Hell, first time you play video games, it's not that huge a deal. It's a past time, and shouldn't be an addiction :p

People are stupid and hold sex in a regard as if it is the very greatest part of life. If that's true, then life is terrible, and we might as well kill ourselves now.
Eh, I think it was truer back when it meant something (like the continuation of the species.)

But now it's more or less just another form of entertainment, with the consequences being further overpopulation of the human race.
Continuation of the species was never always the only goal, many periods of histroy have been very, very promisquious hell look at the romans their leadership essentialy established orgies. People had alot less to do way back when, you think a peasant farmer went home after working fields for 11 hours thinking damn I could use another mouth to feed!

Society today is sti;; far more conservative about sex in general compared to many old western cultures.

The first time is usually uncomfortable and awkward, so it's probably best to get it out of the way ASAP. Anyone who's expecting a life-changing experience will obviously be disappointed.

I don't regret it. But I'm a man... I wouldn't make a girl do it though, I respected my girlfriend's wish to keep it until her honeymoon (though I don't know why you'd want awful sex then, but hey).

I've never had sex, and I don't expect to in my life. I don't keep friends, much less relations, so it's never going to happen. I'm actually thinking of taking a vow of chastity so I'll have something to brag about that no one else can.
You said you didn't really have many friends, so would there be any point in doing something for the bragging rights if you've got no-one to brag to?

Doesn't really seem like the kind of thing most people would brag about, anyway. But to each their own.

Sex is overrated but that sex in general. Making love now that's a million times better.

Bob, I thought you knows all already. Why did you ask a question if you already knows the answer?

Hollywood glorified this to the point people are eager to lose it as fast as possible like it's some kind of plague.

I did get to hear Ode to Joy.

It's very much a rite of passage, but it's not the biggest step in your life. People shouldn't just run out and find the nearest vagina. Yeah, it's fun, feels great, but it's not as important as people make it sound. It's funny, most of the people who will pressure you to do so have never done it themselves.

I believe that if your with someone that you love and you've waited to any extent(wether its till after a certain # of dates, till your married, or whatever) then yes it can and most likely will be a very special occasion. But if not then you'll just shack up with a random girl/guy at a party its not gonna be a big deal in the least and you'll most likely have the way you view sex in general changed.

I of course am sharing my opinion, I haven't lost mine(and I don't plan too until the right girl comes along)

Spoiled brats, I say! Sex seems like a much much bigger deal when you're still a virgin into your 20s. Plus, you still have to factor in never having made out with a woman at all or has never been in any form of relationship with the preferred gender. Imagine that that awkward sex you had in high school never happened, nor did you ever have a girlfriend, nor did you get that first kiss. Extend that for like five or ten years and you'll realize that such things are fairly important. Seems like you're just dismissing one part of it to seem hip or because you thought it was traumatic or something.

I mean, have any of you seriously contemplated the services of a prostitute? 'Cause I sure have.

It really depends on what you're expectations are. If you think that once it happens your life will suddenly become meaningful and all your self-doubts will fade due to the sheer maturity that must be yours since you merged items A and B, then yeah, you're going to be really disappointed.

Honestly, I don't understand the rush that teens seem to be going through right now to have sex. I waited a very long time and it was incredibly worth it because it was with the right person and it was the right time for me. The act itself wasn't spellbinding, but what made it great for me was being able to share it with someone I deeply cared for and who I know cared for me. Considering the long wait, I really didn't feel any anxiety or stage fright or anything. Being with her I was able to relax and enjoy the moment, just like I am when we do any number of things.

The girl went and ripped my heart out just 4 days after we did it. Terrible. But at the time, it was...pretty good. I think peer pressure does have a huge effect on this subject, as it does on pretty much anything in high school.

Indeed. I took the virginity of a young child. For "research" you understand!

By the powers invested in my by some bloke I met in a pub, who said he knew for definite, i pronounce this entire thread guilty of paedophilia.
