The first time wasnt anything to write home about, but it gets better as go along. So no, its not a big deal, but it gets overhyped because untill you've made the beast with two backs, its an unknown, and the unknown is exciting, and possible scary, which means more exciting.

I think most people voted yes on that poll haven't actually had sex myself, because that's what I would have done.

But its worth it with someone you love. It really is.

Well, from a girl's perspective we're always told that our first time isn't going to be fun at all, breaking the hymen and all that... There's blood and it hurts but they tell you it's supposed to get better after that.

So no angels. No nothing really, just a lot of ouch.
Did it actually hurt for you though? Like, you'd never used tampons and stuff before? Or wanked or anything?

It didn't hurt me in the slightest. I was just wondering if it actually does hurt like people say because no girl I've talked to has admitted it.

Well my best friend did but she's the biggest wimp in the world haha
A girl that lost her virignity to me has told me it hurt her, but she didn't want to say anything thinking I might find it weird.. dunno why. You girls are weird sometimes.

But like most people said... meh, nothing special, just another stepping stone in life, with many more to go.

Yeah with my first time, it was her first time as well and so it was so painful for her that I never actually finished, we had to stop half way through. It was just... awful and I felt so bad for her as well. It didn't get better either, not with her anyways. But she and I only had sex a few times before we broke up, and that was years ago now... heh, doesn't seem that long though

Hurt a lil bit for me first time. Within twenty seconds I'd forgotten though...

1)I wish I had the experience necessary to post here (however I'm 15 so it would be illegal if I did)
2)I was reading the ones above my comment and it was mentioned that girls bleed if it's their first time. If that is true then I'm glad I read this otherwise I could have had a nasty surprise in a year or so. (Along the lines of "Oh shit, I'm sorry, What did I do wrong etc.)

Everyone knows that losing your 'v' is one of the most important moment of your lives. Nowhere is this more widespread than your high school years. I remember being told that your first time was a momentous occassion. Yet there was no parade or chorus of angels shouting "you're a manly man now!" after I lost mine. Dont get me wrong I had a great time, yet a part of me thought, "this was sex? Why was I so nervous about it? Where's my bloody chorus of angels?"

My question is simply, is losing your virginity overhyped?

Also, do the effects of peer pressure make you more likely to regret losing it prematurely?
Yes it is. Ask any man and they'll say the same thing. It like a really fun maintenance, that's all.

People are stupid and hold sex in a regard as if it is the very greatest part of life. If that's true, then life is terrible, and we might as well kill ourselves now.
Eh, I think it was truer back when it meant something (like the continuation of the species.)

But now it's more or less just another form of entertainment, with the consequences being further overpopulation of the human race.

It depends upon the context in which it is lost I assume. For me, it was with a girl I hardly knew and certainly didn't care about and I expect her feelings were the same since we almost immediately stopped talking to one another after the event.

I guess with some it's more important to the girl than the guy, but it was never this huge deal for me. It just happened, as most things do happen, and that was it. No parade.

As a very horny 17 year old who hasn't even kissed a girl, there are few things higher on my list then having sex. I know it wont be all that great and after having sex it will drop down the list, but I still really want to lose my virginity >.>
