Hello, fellow Escapists! This is a thread dedicated to all the lurkers out there, sitting in the shadows and viewing the forum from afar without posting. What are your views on these people, watching you, judging your actions from afar? /creepy. Joking aside, what are your views on forum lurkers? I myself was one of these people, for about 9 months I read the intellectuals in this forum debate; now I've decided to join you, to put it like some strange cult. My digressions aside, what are your views on lurkers?

Personally, I don't think there's anything wrong with lurkers. I used to be a lurker, but too many interesting threads passed by and I finally made an account.

There's nothing wrong with them.

Yeah, at least there staying quite instead of causing a ruckus...

I lurked for under a day before seeing something that caught my eye (a post by a now banned user).

Well, they're a lot better than users who post pointless polls. Speak of the devil...
Nah, I'm kidding. You're alright.

I feel it's often a good idea to lurk for a few days at least before you start posting, so you can get a feel for the community and see what the common reaction to things are. It really helps you know if you're going to mesh or if you're better off going elsewhere.

Same here. I think to an extent all begin as lurkers. I mean, you don't just see a website and instantly join the forum without checking to make sure the discussion is at least intelligible. Or at least I don't

I was a lurker, made an account, and still lurk. Why? My opinion's already been voiced in most forums I read, and I don't feel like reading them. Plus, I avoid posting in most flame war threads.

This. I lurked on these forums for a good while before I decieded to join. It was either this of the PSXextreme.com forums but I didn't want to join a place where everyone will agree with me all the time.

I am a big lurker on most other forums, just because I don't really care. It depends on the day.
That is why the Escapist has awards for having topics with the most lurkers.

I'm still a lurker. I only post on a very small percentage of threads I read.

I lurked for a while to get a feel for the forum. I actually wish more people did it, but since the mods crack down on bad threads pretty quickly it probably wouldn't make much difference.

In my opinion lurkers just like to listen more than talk. Some other people would definitely benefit from this as well.
