it's stupid and self-degrading to lie for that purpose. It is psychologically placing yourself in at a disadvantage to the other person by implying that thier interests are more valid than your own. Not to mention if they like the mask you creat for them, they will likely hate you when the mask comes off, and you will hate yourself if it never does. Lying in general however is not objectionable to me. It is just a tool, just like honesty. The fact is, you can lie while saying no word that is untrue, and be honest when every word is false. Words often give the impression of meaning beyond thier definition, and the fact is that language is just a means of communicating thoughts and emotions. If you intentionally lead the other person to an incorrect conclusion, you are lying even if every word you use is the truth, and the opposite is also true. Therefore, i do not concern myself with the truth or falsehood of what a person says. I care more about why they lie or tell the truth, intent is what matters, not method. and results.
I tend to be a bit of a compulsive liar, as i lie about the most pointless things. "have you seen (movie)"? "yeah, i loved it". I dont even know why I lie so much. it may stem from me having a seperate identity i sometimes pretend to be online and all the time i lie about my info on omegle to screw with people.
I wouldn't want to, but i would probably do it without noticing. the lies just kind of come out. Plus, I'm a bit insecure and would be afraid that one little thing would screw me up.
