Poll: Magic the Gathering

Does anyone play it? I just got back into it after a 4 year break haha. If you play, what are your favorite strategies, what color(s) do you play, etc.

I like the game on the 360. I don't have enough people around me to play the actual game with, and I don't care to go the other internet route that costs money.

There's a special place in my heart for card games...

I just recently started playing Magic, so I don't really have any good strategies developed. I tend to favor black a lot, but that may change.

I do find it funny that lots of cards are kind of...unbalanced, for the lack of a better term. For instance, darksteel forge.

Yeah I play. Most of my friends up here in college do too. I play all the colors but my best deck is a green one. The only problem I have with it is how much money I spend on it, so I haven't bought too many cards recently and just play with the ones I've had. It's a really fun game though.

I haven't ever played it, but the my boss holds monthly tournaments at the store, and the game seems interesting from what I see.

I beat my friends every time with my elf deck. It's a simple strategy that always works. Also I use a wizard deck sometimes but not as often.

I plyed Magic as a kid in up to like 8th grade, then stopped playing for a while. Got back into it about 2 years ago. Seems like most ppl play for awhile, stop playing, then for some reason or another are drawn back into the game.

As for colors/strategies, I like playing G/W if I can, and I normally will play some form of aggro but I'm not opposed to control. Actually, one of the decks I'm currently playing is a UWr control deck in Standard.

I used to be awesome at that. I live really close to the most active gamestore in New Mexico so, i had plenty o' people to play with. Actually won a scholarship once. 3 or so years ago

and Blue all the way. I'd have to say my favorite strategy was to get punched in the face untill i was down to about 2, then stabilize and win with something retarded, like...cant think of a good old example.

Apparently it's terrible.

I can't remember where I heard that, but I never played it.

Play it. It's pretty damn good once you get a good grasping of the rules.

Now, back on topic...

Black all the way. throw in a splash of red or blue.

Black is my personal favourite but i love each color for different reasons.

or something like that, but i hear they recently changed it so damage doesn't use the stack, and all my favorite block/stack damage guys, like Mog Fanatic suck now.

EDIT: that thing about the teenagers was a way to help remember the steps for combat

I played from the end of Beta, until the Fallen Empires expansion. Basically, when everyone was playing those stupid Kjeldoran Outpost decks constantly, I gave up.

Can't say I miss spending $10+/pack.

The last deck I rolled with was a Broodstar Affinity (Artifact-based, using Blue for control). It can plop down an 8/8 flyer by turn two, then proceed to murder the enemy by turn three. Fastest win I got was four turns. I'm particularly proud of it because my set-up can defeat Ravager Affinities and green anti-artifact decks at the time. Mono black Control also has a special place in my heart.

I used to love this game. I stopped playing years ago because I didn't have anyone to play with.

It was right around the time they came out with that Unglued set.

Panoptic Mirror + Time Warp = lock & game over... It's my favorite combo, but tends to piss off my opponents...

Festival + Siren's Call is also fun... destroy all of your opponent's creatures for a measly two mana...
