When I played Ocarina of time I got to the Goron mountain. Then i turned the game off becuase I was bored.

When I played Majoras mask.....well I didn't really play it. I played it for about an hour but then my mom had to return it to the store. It was my brothers game and he was afraid of the skull moon so he didn't want to play or look at it.

So I really can't say. However for how great people say Ocarina of Time is it didn't really impress me.

I didn't want to read through what a lot of other people put, so I'm sorry if someone already said this.

I loved Majora's Mask because it was different than your conventional Zelda game. No princess to save, no freaking fairy, no red haired middle aged man/thing to poop on your parade. Just an innovative "time loop" gameplay and a variety of masks to help you on your quest.

Majoras Mask beats OoT by a long shot. I have beaten OoT so many times and it's gotten so old. I can beat any temple so easily. While on MM, I have to look at the guide for the Snow Peak Temple, Great Bay Temple, and Stone Tower Temple. Especially the Stone Tower Temple. Majora's Mask is the game that gives a hard experience each time you play it. It's such a difficult game. And it has the twist of a time limit made it more challenging, and that side quest would only happen at a certain time. It was a game that made me think so much and I had to constantly refer to the guide. And another thing, this game actually includes time. OoT barely had anything to do with time except for the age thingy, but Majora's Mask makes you watch your time. All around, Majora's Mask is better. But I give points to OoT for revolutionizing Zelda.

Of the two, I'd have to say I like Ocarina of time more. Majora's mask felt more gimmicky.
Twilight Princess, honestly, wasn't THE best. It didn't bring anything amazingly new. The shapeshift idea has been used in MM.
Well that's my opinion. I'm inherently bias against anything that came before my first console's generation though. If you really want to get into it though, A link to the past was the first to introduce the idea of two worlds that are the same structurally but different in their atmosphere and tone, which is one of the main points of OoT. Majora's mask really had the most fresh ideas with its time locked system and Mask transformations.
That's not really the point of this thread though, its more of a "which one do people like more" thread not a "which one was the most original" thread. In that respect I like TP more but of the two I like OoT.

Majora's Mask was fucked up, demented, disturbing and warped my young mind...

I loved it.

Ocarina of time Beats everything.

Although Majora's mask was pretty bad ass. The masking system and stuff was cool.

Ocarina of Time. It's longer and easier to play.
Majora was always sort of a spin off to me. The mask were cool, but the time traveling stuff got a little exasperating.

As far as I am concerned, both games are equal in greatness in my books. I thought Majoras Mask had some great innovation to it and I never understood why people bitched about the 3 days thing. Hey guess what, play the song of time backwards problem solved!! They are both equally amazing and I cannot for the life of me hold one above the other.

OoT, FTW. The temple songs are the only things I can play on the piano

Majora was basically a sequel, but it was a good one, at least. Every sequel immediately gets my mark of disapproval unless I'm proven wrong within the first hour of playing, which in speaking Majora gave me a good smack in the face.

Orcarina of time bought a lot to the series, like finally getting to see an older link, Pulling the sword out was one of the greatest gaming moments for me.

It's gotta be OoT for me. I fucking HATE that Time system on Majora's mask. if you screwed up like getting a certain child to marry a womans's mask, you had to start the fucking thing all over again! Oh and the item/Ruppee loss. That just put the Poisoned Icing on the Exploding Cake.

i didn't actually enjoy majora's mask. i HATED that time contraint, and all the waiting around and jumpiong back in time. i know you could play song of time backwards and slow time down, but it really didn't help
^ Exactly what I was going to say.

I enjoyed both greatly but hated the time limit in MM. I can understand what they were going for but in a game as epic as Zelda, it just doesn't work as well

ocarina! mayora was great with the masks and all but the time limit was just soooo anoying, and some quest are only finishable after killing a boss, like the gorgon race which i could't finish because half way down the track the time would run out XD

Ocarina of Time was a better game for several reasons: the size of the quest at hand, the innovation of dungeon puzzles and bosses etc. But I enjoyed Majora's mask for the superior plot. It was so much darker than any other zelda game attempted before it and the removal of Gannondorf was a welcome change. It gave the Zelda series a needed update to keep the series fresh. Unfortunatley, the went back to having Gannondorf as a boss in the later games...

Have you tried the master quest?
Nope, what is it?
It was a Limited Nintendo Gamecube version of OOT which you got if you pre-ordered Wind Waker. Its got an extended (not by much) Quest Line called "The Master Quest". Apparently its rather hard.

EDIT: And just like EVERY Zelda Game: FUCKING WATER TEMPLES!!!

Actually yes. I asked a friend of mine if I could borrow that but he doesn't know where it is. That was a week ago so thanks for reminding me. :)

OoT all the way. MM was way too complicated, what with all the time warping and such, you had 3 hours to get your ocarina back and thats only possible if you know where you're going

They're almost on par. Almost. Ocarina is better simply because its so much more expansive and has brilliant dungeons (and lots of them, something I've always liked). Majora's Mask was incredibly good fun though with changing creatures, it just needed to be a little longer.

Also Ocarina had that extra hard version that came with Windwaker, that was brilliant! It was the cause of a lot of pain though.... but that was a really good idea for the franchise.
