Krav Maga. It was actually less punishing on me to train in (compared to jiu-jitsu and kung-fu) due to my natural lack of lower body flexibility (not a result of a health problem, just very short, thick tendons)... also, it focuses on the practical... considering that, I suppose it's not so much a "martial art" as it is a "fighting system".

I know tiger style Muai Thai, taekwondo,a little bit of jujitsu and tai chi.

My favourite martial art is taekwondo as it amazing good at fighting an opponent or attacked while keeping you in control of the fight and leaving you less open for counter attacks

I started with Bujinkan (school name) taijutsu (body techniques) half a year ago, and I really enjoy it. It is classified as a Ninjutsu martial art.

I haven't tried any other martial arts but if I would train in another style I would like to try out Muay Thai or Karv Maga (not completely sure on the spelling on these two) seeing as the Bujinkan ninjutsu is quite subtle (at least what I have learnt in this short time). In comparison these two martial arts are known for being very fierce, which would be a quite different experience, and they look very interesting.

I voted Juijitsu, then noticed Kendo. Too bad I can't change my vote. A guy with a long stick is gonna best a guy without a stick, especially if said long stick is metal and sharp.

No single marital art is the best. Having a good mix is what is key. The first UFC has guys that knew only 1 art, and Brazilian Jui-Jitsu guy Royce Gracie came out on top. He showed the main weakness of most martial arts is they lack a ground game, but you need a good stand up as well.

I have my own. It's called 'Kick-in-the-nuts-then-run-away Fu'.

It's only effective on males.
But I've never been in a situation where I needed to floor a woman, and don't expect to be either.

for the longest time I learned American Trailer Park Kempo from a crazy dude. It was great. And effective. He got progressively crazier, and soon dropped all pretense of "self control" and all that mental stuff, and we just beat on each other, and learned techniques. It was great fun.

My favorite is Boxing, but seeing as it's not on the list, I choose Muay Thai since it's awesome and it's the only other thing than Boxing, I can do...

Only practiced Judo, was pretty good at it.
Too bad they don't really teach you how to punch there. But it looks dayum cool when you send someone flying.
But running works too. And I'm pretty good at that. And climbing stuff. So yeah, you should get to higher ground and jump on them or something.

Well if you look at martial arts history, stuff like Karate was actually made to fight against armed opponents barehanded :)

Though not specifically a martial art. I do like Fencing and Boxing.

Boxing I am heavily into atm, having just joined the "Show me State Boxing and MMA Club"

Previously I used to practice Hapkido.

I did Kupso for a few years. Did a little training with kali sticks (eskrima) and a wooden bo as well. Very practical and focuses on real world situations and laws surrounding self defence.

I teach Kenpo (highlight NOT Kendo)...it's an old art for self defense which involves many eye gouges and throat hits...groin shots are also good to go.

They're all good at what they do, but as far as actual fun practicing the art itself I have to say karate.

>No Krav Maga

Fine, if you don't like practical self-defense just ignore it. I did fencing for a wee while, absolutely no combat use at all (it's worse than karate and judo in that respect, doesn't even pretend to be useful). I was pretty good, but I was far too slow and defensive, so by the time I was ready to tag the other bloke I'd already lost everything because of round time limits.

Krav maga, also known as jew-jitzu or israeli self defense.

In krav maga, there is no honor, no discipline, no east asian bullshit. It's all about fighting dirty a escaping alive from someone trying to mug/rape you.

The first thing I learned from a krav maga instructor is that it only takes 2 pounds of pressure to gouge someone's eyes out with your fingers.

Almost every move is focused on disarming your assailant, and then kick him/her in the groin. And it's real effective.
