DC. The story lines are so much better. I mean. Blackest Night was so freaking awesome!

Personally I love the early version of Marvel comics. I loved X-men, spider-man, Avengers, ect... But I haven't actually read any of the modern issues of those comics so its a bit difficult to clearly voice why I love Marvel over DC

I enjoy Marvel enough, but for the life of me I can't stick with a title for more than a few issues. Marvel's always been media other than the comic books for me. DC (generally speaking, I've been gradually losing interest since Infinite Crisis) I like a lot more. It's not just because I'm a huge Superman and Batman fan, it's also because I like my heroes to be moral arbiters. Recognize grey, but fight on black and white principles. I prefer looking up to them to completely relating to them.

DC, for 2 reasons: (1) Batman, and (2) better company policy. Marvel has a 0 reprint policy, which is designed to cater to collectors (which is stupid, because no modern comic will ever be worth anything, anyway), but it hurts readers. DC is focused more on readers than collectors.

I'm torn. I hate Superman. He's overpowered, lawful good, and completely uninteresting, but, I still have to give it to DC because they have Batman. I'm not a huge comic book fan, but I've loved Batman since the Tim Burton movies and 90's animated series.

Also, I've had a little more exposure to the DC side of things because my resident comic book nerd and I usually talk about nerd stuff while getting hammered on weekend nights. His ramblings are the only reason I'm excited for the DC:Universes online game. I also have an ongoing drunken argument with him that Batman could beat Superman, which is a source of lively entertainment.
That almost sounds like you're talkin' about me...i'm the local comic nerd in my circle of buds, and have actually managed to hype DCUO to the point where i've gotten both my girlfriend and my best friend interested in the game...('course, my girl just hopes it cross-platforms so she can play on her pc as a villian and kick mine and my bro's @sses.....)

OT: I'm DC 100%

DC sucks ass. It has Batman and nothing else. Admittedly Watchmen and V for Vendetta were published through DC, but they weren't really DC's work, and they forced him to leave via being twats about his work. DC also seems to copy everythign that Marvel does but make it seem crappy (lol@metahumans)

Marvel has much more flawed and interesting characters whose weaknesses go much deeper than stuff like kryptonite. Emotionally, their characters are much more interesting, and, imo unlike DC, their comics seem to be trying to say something, particularly X-men, which was all a not-so-subtle allegory for racism and homophobia.

Both, like most comic book companies (talking about Manga here too), have an extreme issue with milking their franchises. At one point or another, Spiderman, Batman, X-men, Superman and all those others should just end. Finito. Kick the bucket. Be done away with, and only be brought back as a reboot decades later at earliest.

Also, as for the whole Marvel Universe thing, they seriously need to drop magic, spirits and ghosts and gods from the whole thing; it ruins it. It should sci-fi or fantasy. Not both. Same goes for you, DC, with your crappy copied universe thing.

Both, actually, though my current comic library leans more towards the Marvel side.

(And I like the Amalgam universe...)

Marvel by far. DC only has me hooked on Batman aaaaaaaand...

Nope, that's it.

Besides, Marvel has Deadpool, Venom, Doctor Doom, and of course, Stan Lee.

Also, it's been mentioned, but DC just mainly plays catch-up to Marvel, anyway. Marvel did What If's, DC did Elseworlds, and the more blatant example, Marvel Zombies aaaaaand then there was Blackest Night.

Both universes are incredibly silly and incoherent as a whole. Both steal each other's ideas with depressing regularity.

That being said, I'm a Marvel man myself, just because of Chris Claremont's work on X-Men. So good there is an exhaustive literary criticism [http://geoffklock.blogspot.com/search/label/Claremont] online.

Used to be all for Marvel, but after watching Spider man 3 and than watching The Dark Knight, I prefer DC now.

HE'S INVINCIBLE! What's that? We wrote him into a corner? Well, now he has uh... uh... lazer eyes! Or can reverse time by flying opposite the world's rotation! yeah!!

Really?
Technically he is weak to kryptonite, so he's not invincible, not completely anyway.

Tough call. I voted DC purely 'cause at the moment they have some brilliant stories going on and Marvel cancelled Runaways and Captain Britain and MI:13. Which makes me bitter.

DC currently has:
Action Comics
Green Lantern
Green Lantern Corps
Green Lantern: Emerald Knights
The Batman family books (all of them pretty much)
Flash
Justice League: Generation Lost
Secret Six
The Vertigo Line

Marvel:
Iron Man
Avengers books
Thor
Secret Warriors
Wolverine
And probably a few others I forgot.

I was mostly a Marvel guy until a few years ago. Now I'd prefer a mix of both Marvel and DC.

Why? Well, Marvel has great character designs, but rather flat/bland characters and mediocre stories. DC, on the other hand, has character and costume designs that make my eyes bleed, but the writing is top notch in most cases.
I'd say this sums up my general feelings, but I'm not really the type to just 'leave it at that' =P

One thing I'd say Marvel handles much better, and has earned more of my respect for, is their treatment of continuity. Now let's be honest here, the Marvel universe is a complete circus to its inhabitants, especially the heroes. Everyone's always dying and coming back to life, finding out that life-changing events from years ago were not what they seemed, new people are always gaining superpowers, and I'm not even going to get into what the mutants have to put up with on top of all of that.

But compare that to DC, whose continuity used to be so all over the place that they basically had to press a 'magic reset' button in the 80's because their universe was just impossible to follow chronologically. But even stories from after that get constantly re-written or deemed non-canon. And when they do something to piss off the fans, they seem to drop the ball harder then Marvel typically does. I mean if Marvel is the guy who sometimes drops a bowling ball in his apartment only for it to crash through and hit the head of the tenant below him, then DC's ball drops through several floors, rolls through a door and onto the street, causing a taxi to swerve and cause a 20-car pile-up. And then the sun explodes for some reason.

There's one other thing DC tends to do that I don't care for: treating a character's superhero persona as an avatar that anyone can use. Just look at how many different Batmen, Flash's, and Green Lantern's there have been over the years. (Though Batman is never a permanent change) I'm sorry, but I kind of hate that. It's not Batman if it isn't Bruce Wayne, Peter Parker is Spider-Man and no one else, etc, etc. (Oh alright, I suppose I have to make a special exception for Terry Mcginnis as Batman, but that's justified sense Bruce Wayne is simply unable to fight crime by that point in time) It can make for good stories if a supporting character decides to take up the mantle for a few issues. But to completely change a superhero's secret identity for long periods of time? I just think that's too far.

Marvel has more characters that I like, but none that I like as much as Batman, so it's both for me.

I don't think I like very many things as much as Batman...

Yeah basically Deadpool alone wins it for me.

Gotta love Marvel.
