So we've had a few months to play both games. And I'm curious, which game do you think is better?

*Flameshield on*

Personally, I prefer Marvel vs Capcom 3: Easy to learn controls, plenty of fan-service, fast paced gameplay, has Dante and Deadpool.

Mortal Kombat: X-ray moves are badass, gore (and lots of it), plenty of DLCs to keep it going, has varied game modes, Kratos.

So what are your opinions?

Marvel vs. Capcom 3 is a really fun game but the utter lack of content makes it's price way too much. I haven't played Mortal Kombat but I heard that has a ton of different modes and such.

I couldn't stand MvC3. I hated pretty much everything about it.

Mortal Kombat was pretty fun, though I still question how someone can get their eyes jabbed out but still see fine.

I prefer Marvel vs. Capcom 3 for its faster paced game-play and because I found the controls easier to pick up. Part of the appeal of these 2-D fighting games is pulling off crazy combos, which is something I'm rarely ever able to do in Mortal Kombat.

That was one of things that really bugged me. The X-ray moves are awesome, but to me, they were more suitable to be Fatalities.

The sound effects for Stryker's X-ray move was really weird for me.

This really shouldn't even be a question. MvC3 is miles better. More diverse roster plus all the character interplay that the team/assist systems demand. More intricate, detailed and smoother animations. More depth and technique in gameplay. More solid online play.

The only thing MK has that MvC3 doesn't is a fuller single player experience.. but if you're buying a fighting game solely for it's single player experience, then you're not buying it based on what makes a fighting game a good fighting game.

Marvel VS Capcom 3 is more down to memorizing combos and speed hitting buttons than anything else. I still had fun with it, but I'll go with Mortal Kombat.

Mortal Kombat wins just for sheer content and replayability.

I know MvC is without a doubt a more hardcore, competative game.

But i think in terms of enjoyment Mortal Kombat wins.

I returned MvC3 the day after I got it....so Mortal Kombat all the way.

MvC3 had a lot wrong with it, I thought. I thought the game was way too Japanese (although I'm aware that the whole series is), and there wasn't much to do on it once you'd completed the arcade mode. I mean, I thought it would at least have a story mode judging by the awesome trailers they released. Mortal Kombat has loads to do. I've done it all now...but it's still fun to play every now and then, and great with friends (although I tend to avoid playing online as the majority of people are way too good....)

Based on aesthetics, I think both games are pretty awesome, however. MvC's cell shaded/cartoony animation does work very well, and it's very smooth. Then on the other end you have Mortal Kombat's "realistic" animation. The detail in the backgrounds of the stages on MK are amazing, and the gore is superb.

While I enjoy playing both of them, Marvel vs Capcom 3 was much easier to get into and ultimately master when it comes to play controls and effectively using combos. Mortal Kombat is fun for the gore factor, as well as the Fatalities. However, when it comes to overall fun factor, the two games are about even.

That being said, I chose Marvel vs Capcom 3. The gameplay just sells it for me. It's so easy and so much fun to get into while at the same time remaining challenging enough to push myself. The graphics are also very cool to look at, and very appealing when it comes to fast-paced combat.

[small]Mortal Kombat is still fun, though.[/small]

They're both awesome, although I do enjoy MVC3's mechanics far more than MK, but where is the damn story mode?!?! This game deserves a corny ass story.

For me, the one thing this game lacks is in the DLCs department.

There's just so many characters to choose from both Marvel and Capcom!!

One DLC character from each company every two months will be enough to satisfy me.

It seems that content is the center of people's arguments against MvC3. Content is really an incentive for players to keep playing. If you really appreciated a game, you would keep playing if it was stripped naked of its extra content. You would continue playing for the moments you pick up the controller and started playing, not the moments you unlock another move or watch a cutscene. A game is what you enjoy it for being fun. That's not to say that they're no place for that content. People can't just like a game for what it is; People have tastes. That's why they buy what they like and read or watch reviews if they're skeptical. If a game allowed you to have artwork, alternate endings, more moves in your arsenal, and more hours of gameplay, you'd be more inclined to pay money for it. But if you found out that the game was something you didn't like or was not up to snuff, then you'd think that the content might not be worth playing through a game you didn't like. If you liked that game but felt that you didn't have much left to do once you thought that you were done with it, then you'd think that you didn't have as much fun as you paid for it.

If you still play Mortal Kombat for what it is and not what the developers thought of to throw in there, I can respect that. If you still play Marvel vs. Capcom 3 for what it is and ignore its "lack of content", that's okay too.

As much as it pains me to say it, MK is just more fun.

MvC3 killed it for me when they didn't allow for single vs single and/or double vs double.
The triple teams were stupid and took away from the fun.

I really like Mortal Kombat but the control scheme just drives me nuts. I know it's been part of the series for a while but pressing a button to block is just completely unnatural in a 2d fighter.

Mortal Kombat's visual design is also piss awful.

Marvel vs. Capcom 3, actually. Both of 'em I feel had their good and bad points. Mortal Kombat may have had intense visuals and such, but MvC3 was easier to control and stuck out more as one of those 'fun' kinds of games.

[sub]And I also can't stand gore. Not anymore at least. That's another reason why I chose it over MK.[/sub]

Marvel vs Capcom 3 FTW.

Marvel vs Capcom 3: Played 100+- matches offline versus 4~6 different players, never single played, all random. (And we managed to DKO.)

Mortal Kombat: Played 10+- matches offline versus 4~6 different players, never single played, random, watches others to complete the single player campaign.
