I don't see actual multiplayer in the style of Call of Duty working. However, Co-Op missions in the style of the Modern Warfare 2 could end up being pretty damn enjoyable. All in all, as long as they don't sacrifice the single player for the multiplayer I wont care.
I agree wholeheartedly with this statement. Co-op I think would work well but only over XBL (or PSN, it's multiplat now, right?) But even then, if it's co-op it's likely to have some semblance of story to it so how would they allow both Sheperd's to choose from a dialogue tree? Oh well, it's in the capable hands of BioWare and they've not let me down yet.

Nay because if they added a multiplayer mode then they would probably sacrifice the quality or length of the single player mode. In other words the MP would just be crap with a great SP or both MP and SP would be meh. With the addon of a MP option comes costs and that would come from the budget they have for SP.

Co-Op can work on PC as well. You could create your own unified network on the PC or hell, just plain use Steam.

And to be honest I was actually thinking of Co-Op missions involving the combat only with little story or dialogue. Remember the challenges in Batman: Arkham Asylum? It was timed and your job was to complete your mission as fast as possible. The same could apply here where for e.g. you would have to hold off a horde of husk's until extraction arrives.

Only if Co op

Player two as a party memeber would be great. No way if they want to make a new major supporting character that always tags along.

...You know, coming into this thread, I was going to say no. I was going to say if they did do multiplayer they should do it in a side project.

But after looking at all the people getting their panties in a twist over it, I took some time and reconsidered.

Hell yes, I want multiplayer. No co-op, though, unless it's like Phantasy Star Universe's multiplayer.

There's no reason a multiplayer game in the ME universe couldn't work, it'd have to be an FPS for me to be half interested and even then I wouldn't bother due to the regenerating health.

Co-op (especially local) and 3rd person MP would not interest me in the slightest.

No, absolutely not. Having MP means that they didn't focus 100% of their time and money on single player. Mass Effect doesn't need multiplayer.

Don't get me wrong, normally I'd jump at the chance to add co-op into a game, but ME3? No way. I love splitscreen co-op but it would not fit Mass Effect at all.

Imagine a TF2 class based system, it could work very very well with biotics, tech, and soldier classes.

Not really, the actual game play part has been the weakest link to Mass Effect.
Really? I thought they upped the gameplay tenfold in ME2.
It's still not very good compared to combat-focused shooters. Take cover, pop up from behind cover to unleash a tech fireball, take cover, make your squadmates kill shit, unleash fireball ad infinitum.

The spectacle was quite cool at times (fuck yes, the Cain) but the combat can't carry a game on its own.

Now if they make the combat a bit better and add some nice nonlinear multiplayer maps, ME could make a cool multiplayer game. And so long as it doesn't affect the quality of the SP, why not? Hell Yay.

Drop-in/Drop-out Co-op in which the other player is one of the already-established party members.

Only case, simply because it wouldn't take much time to add-on, I think. Just add another single player and put in skins for him/her, Jack/Garrus etc.
