I reckon it would be pretty cool to have multiplayer, but I would rather have a better singleplayer experiance.

As long as the single player is as great as possible I dont care. Also what if Bioware made something truly amazing with the multiplayer,, and if its avergae, then I'll just go it solo

It's not that simple. Time and money expended on a multiplayer mode are time and money not expended on single player, and there's a finite amount of both. I don't see the point of attaching a multiplayer option that's going to be inferior to dedicated multi games already in existence, and just be ignored.

Please, dear Zeus, no. Too much emphasis is placed on multiplayer in most FPS style games already. A game with a history for such incredibly strong story and character development could only lose from having the development team split their focus away from these elements to work on a multiplayer mode.

I don't think Bioware has what it takes to pull of a legitimate multiplayer componet like you would see in Gears of War.

They should just stick to making twenty hour long dialouge tree navigations like their fans seem to want.

Yay. Especially COOP. There are too few COOP games out there.
If i cant play a game with my buddies, hence getting much longer and nicer enjoyment from it, i usually dont bother with the game.

I definitely doesn't need it, but I fear EA may add it, because well, they're EA and they do that kind of shit all the time. Just look at Dead Space 2, a game in which the main idea of the game is you're alone and isolated and they tack multilayer onto that, so with a game that has you having a team all the way through it... I'd actually be surprised if they don't add it in there, I don't want it but I'm bracing myself to have it.

That being said, after the trilogy is complete it would be a shame to end the franchise so perhaps a few spin off games, multilayer may be welcome in them; hell the game practically lends itself to being an MMO with all the classes and races. Just don't want any of that shit in ME...

As long as the singleplayer is awesome I don't really care.
this man/woman has it.

as long as the single player game still has all the awesomeness of the previous games, i'd be ok with an online multiplayer, hell, i might even play it. Red Dead showed us that a games narrative can still be awesome AND have a good online multiplayer.

If they somehow managed to create a completely separate story reliant upon the totally different social dynamics inherent in having to count on another human player in the game that didn't affect the strength of the main story of the singleplayer, why not?

In other words, no.

......no.

in better times i really wouldnt care, but this day and age there are so few good single player games that i am forced to actually fight for them to stay single player and good. theyve ripped off gears of war enough with ME2. hopefully bioware (or EA) remembers that they arent Epic or Infinity Ward and that they are known for quality RPGs; that their fanbase has not, does not, and will not care for a multiplayer experience from them. we want the compelling and awesome narrative experience the mass effect series has delivered up until now.

consider how multiplayer would go with ME gameplay. think of just the gameplay....and you have a crappy GoW rip-off. hopefully EA notes ME's past success and keeps their paws off development so this doesnt happen... but i wont put it past them.

Co-Op can work on PC as well. You could create your own unified network on the PC or hell, just plain use Steam.

And to be honest I was actually thinking of Co-Op missions involving the combat only with little story or dialogue. Remember the challenges in Batman: Arkham Asylum? It was timed and your job was to complete your mission as fast as possible. The same could apply here where for e.g. you would have to hold off a horde of husk's until extraction arrives.
I specifically meant XBL/PSN as opposed to local co-op. Split-screen would not work for this game in my opinion. Though as to your AA challenge idea, that sounds pretty cool actually. Perhaps you could be dropped into a city and tasked with finding and safeguarding a group of civilians from invading hordes of husks as you said. I'm kind of liking this idea...

To be honest I don't know why split screen wouldn't work. Care to elaborate a bit?

Definitley no multiplayer...

Co-op sounds like an awesome idea though... Especially how ME has been changed majorly from a rambo style ability spamming rpg into a cover based shooter and that the enemies now have seriously bullshit attacks you could really do with a wingman that doesn't suck... (non AI).

Pretty simple do you want multiplayer in Mass Effect 3?

I say, only if it's Co-op, an online multiplayer mode like Halo or Gears would be a horrible fit for Mass Effect, plus I feel that it would just be a tacked on addition.
Ideally I'd prefer no multiplayer at all, but if there must be multiplayer, let it only be co-op.
You really asked this question? Not trying to insult you but knowing most of the community of the escpiast are Single-player only people, its going to be naturally mostly no.

For me personally I wouldn't mind as long as it didn't take away from the Single-player like Uncharted 2 had both an amazing SP and MP.

It's still just a rumour and since pretty much everything is getting multiplayer it's just one of a hundred rumours that sounded more plausible and was picked up. Co-op would be cool.
If you're going to respond read my whole post in the future.

Well, Secret of Mana went pretty good with coop, even for such a story-based rpg. So I guess I'll give Bioware a chance, but if they bork it up, oh boy, so help them god xD People are gonna be pissed.
