The Space Wizards franchise has been begging for local co-op since it's inception. It's also needed melee weapons, but that's not the point.

i don't think a multiplayer focused game was whats in question o_O. ME has always been single player oriented, the very idea to try to make it multi player oriented would be insane.
Oh no, that's not what I meant. I meant that there are many posters complaining about games that focus on multiplayer (see: Blops, BC2, to a lesser extent SC2). According to a large group of forum-goers, a game must have single-player to be a good game. But mention multiplayer? It better not be ruinin' mah game!

I'm with you on that. Don't make it multiplayer. In my opinion, even though I haven't played them, I wouldn't add one at all. It didn't fit with Bioshock 2. I don't see it fitting for Mass Effect.

oh, ok. I think multiplayer focused games are good at times, i don't think games always need a single player or story just to be entertaining; I think team fortress 2 proves that to many of you (I personally am not a big fan of TF2, but I know many of you are). tho i think large number of single player games are not truly fit for multiplayer adaption, and vice versa

No.

I don't want multiplayer in my single-player game. Not even co-op.

Two Shepards wouldn't make any sense, and playing as one party member makes the third superfluous.

Maybe it could do what Star Wars did and have a prequel MMO featuring the First Contact Wars, or Quarians VS. Geth or something.

Leave Mass Effect as a single player game. Multiplayer will never work in a game like that. I will never have my new favorite game series tarnished by being forced to play with random clusterbungles over the internet.

Leave. it. alone.

My only real issue with multiplayer is that developing it will take a lot of time away from the single player. I haven't been playing the first two games waiting to go out and shoot other people in the face (there are plenty of games that would let me do that anyhow), I've been playing them for the tough decisions and epic storyline.

Nay

I don't care much for multiplayer games ,except for mmos and occasional 30 - 60 minutes of quake live. And i don't really see how they could add those gameplay mechanics into multiplayer ,unless they removed or changed a lot of stuff ,but if they did that it would become yet another generic MP shooter. As for coop It wouldn't work either ,there can't be two Shepards and i bet both of them would want to make different choices ,how would dialogue with npc's work? They would have to make it focused on coop and that would ruin it for me ,it wouldn't be the game that i love.

No, I don't believe there needs to be any type of multiplayer mode in Mass Effect 3. The Mass Effect trilogy has always been a single player experience. If Bioware wants to add multiplayer to Mass Effect. It needs to be an entirely separate game set in the Mass Effect universe.

Only if they make a Mass Effect MMO. Likely not gonna happen considering Bioware's involvement in The Old Republic, but Mass Effect's amazing universe is ripe for a good sci-fi MMO.

Co-Op I'll only accept in a spin-off or something.

Competitive Multiplayer should just stay away from the series in general.

No. Mass Effect does not need multiplayer. Not everything needs multiplayer! But I'm sure all this has been said enough in this thread so I will leave it at that.

No, no multiplayer on Mass Effect 3. Preferably none in the series at all. But at least finish Shepard's trilogy before even thinking about that crap. Multiplayer people get their call of Duty games (apologies for lower-case c's. My c key is broken so I just paste them. Kind of annoying) and all those shooters and fighters and whatever else they have. If they have people working on multiplayer for Mass Effect, those are just man hours that are not going to the single-player and I'm not fine with that.

co-op doesn't work, unless you want and your friend happen to be in the mood for dialogue at the same time.

MMO won't happen. I'm not even worried about that. BioWare wouldn't compete with themselves (The Old Republic. Hey, there's another series that no one was wanting multiplayer for. You can understand how Mass Effect fans don't even want a whiff of multiplayer when you think of that).

One thing alot of people saying "OK so long as it doesn't effect the campaign" don't realize is that this is impossible. Multiplayer is a huge time/money sink in game development. It ALWAYS will affect the campaign for the worse. It is why games with focus on multiplayer generally have pretty short campaigns with little to no flexibility. (AKA are very linear)

Hell Nay. Put ALL time and money into the campaign plx. Have Shepard's final tale be epic. Not a linear title with an attempt at a M. Night Shamaylan craptastic ending.

Make an ME spin-off that is entirely squad-based multiplayer? Fine.
Make an ME spin-off RTS game? Fine.
Make an ME spin-off dating sim? Fine.

I will buy each and every one of those games, and love every minute of them. But multiplayer in a canon ME game?

Hell-to-the-mother-fuckin-no.

I'm sorry to put it in such crass terms, but so help me God, if one ounce of Bioware's resources is NOT used towards wrapping up the story, heads will roll.

Co-Op could be cool,
Except when your buddy starts nagging you to skip the dialogue bits or choose the renegade path all the time.

Fuck co-op, fuck multiplayer, please leave ME3 a solo experience.
Yes, this.
Co-op would be horrible for Mass Effect for this very reason.
I'm surprised they even mentioned putting multiplayer in such a great series, I thought Bioware would know better.

I squealed like a little girl when I found out Sam Fisher voiced him in JLU.

However, I am in favor of multiplayer in ME3. If you don't want to play it, don't. Why deny some people the ability to biotic charge some noob?

Co-Op might work if done right. But RPG's dont really work with other multiplayer.
