Poll: mass effect MMO?

In wake on of the announcement of the release date of Mass Effect 2 (Jan 26, 2010 BTW), i was thinking, "can there be a MEMMO (mass effect MMO)?" Bioware is making a KOTOR MMO, so why not mass effect? However, what makes ME a good game, doesn't mean it can be converted to a good MMO. So, I ask i you, the escapist reader, can it be done? And what can they do to make it work?/

PS: Sorry if i tricked you with the title.
PPS: I don't play MMOs

Now I loved Mass Effect, and am eagerly looking forward to the sequel, but I just don't see an MMOG working. Not because it wouldn't be a great game in its own right (I suspect it would), but because if Bioware made it they'd essentially be competing with themselves against The Old Republic.

Seriously though, the combat in Mass Effect isn't worthy of an MMO. It was pretty bland.

The combat is the only reason i think that it wouldn't translate well into a mmo.

Well, the lores certainly there. It could be done.

It won't be done since, like it's been mentioned, Bioware would be competing against themselves with what is essencially a Star Wars esc world anyway.

If they where going to make a another MMO make it Jade Empire or Dragon Age or something, something different.

Why would you make an MMO of a less-popular franchise to compete against your other MMO of a super popular franchise? Mass Effect is good, but it isn't Star Wars.

That's profit suicide right there. That would be like Blizzard making a Diablo MMO opposite of WoW.

It could work, but it would require a lot of though put into it, and really it would have to be in a different time frame of 1 and 2, I hate it when media overlaps badly.

It could be like star trek and have it set some odd years after the trilogy is over or before humans even came into the picture of the ME universe and war breaks out between certain species.

No. We have too many MMO's as it is, there is no reason whatsoever to take one of the few good single player RPG'S and make another one.

Only if they could find a way to incorporate melee weapons. ME's main failing was a distinct lack of melee options.

I would be forced to kill myself if that happened. Mass Effect was my favorite RPG of all time, and the incredibly deep game world was outstanding. That said, I would find myself compelled to play it mercilessly for hours daily. Thus, I would not be able to live under those conditions.

I voted yes but it wouldn't be the best game ever. They would have to change the combat system a lot.

the world would be geart. A mmo would reqiure a whole new system for everything else though.
