1) Male

2) Depends, somewhere between 1-5 times a week (Can get up to 5 times a day for 2-3 days, depending on how I'm feeling)

3) Not currently

4) I do it no more and no less than usual

5) I don't think it does change much (Then again, I've not really tried doing it less to have a point of comparison)

6) Reduced masturbation decreases my ability to focus on things (Unless I was trying to focus on how horny I was at the time... Then I guess it'd increase my focus?)

7) It's healthy. It provides stress relief (Thus lowering risk of stress related injury) and also releases "Bodily Fluids" that build up over time (Generally an average male will need to release once per 10 days which will either happen through Sex, Masturbation or a Wet Dream)

8) Not particularly... I guess nowadays I do it purely as a release rather than for enjoyment which is a small difference between now and when I was younger.

1. Male
2. Never have, don't plan on it.
3. Noooope
5. If the subject were homosexual, it might improve handjob skills
6. N/A
7. Some say it releases pent up stress, but IMO, only being able to deal with that stress through sexual activities is unhealthy. Just doing it for recreation,... well, I see no harm in that.
8. No

Might have some slightly skewed results here. I'm asexual. No interest in sex / masturbation at all.

Would someone explain to me the appeal of it? Now I'm legitimately curious.
Its a biological drive, it isn't based on logic and can't really be explained. The closest explanation I could give is just, you feel the urge to do it and then you do and it feels really good. It is kinda like explaining hunger to someone who doesn't eat, hard to explain since it is a basic drive.

1. male

2. about once a day

3. no, though I do participate in casual sex on an irregular basis. It's been about a month since my last.

4. about the same, just with added sex... except in the case of a woman who actually wants it more than once a day. Rare, wondrous creatures, those. Been with a woman who completely replaced my need to masturbate once, for about 4 months.

5. Increase, if anything. Not ejaculating for a time simply builds pressure that's easier to release... making premature ejaculation more likely.

6. Not doing so definitely diverts my focus onto sex in awkward moments... so I'd say I focus better if I do it regularly.

7. Healthy. Reduces stress, helps prevent the onset of nature's cruelest handicap (ED, by which I do not mean ED-209).

8. I have a ton more stamina now at 32 than when I was 8, 14, or even 17. That's about it.

1. Male.
2. 1-3 times a week. Tending towards 1 or sometimes zero.
3. Sometimes. (off-and-on relationship, recently split with an open relationship.)
4. When yes: I do it more, often in a sexual situation. So solitary masturbation doesn't change, but it does as a part of sex. When no: Hardly masturbate at all.
5. Never thought about it. I don't know why it would, even in a same-sex relationship, which mine are.
6. No.
7. Medical science indicates it's healthy, releases stress, etc. Been a long time since I read about it, so I don't remember what exactly it does.
8. I used to masturbate pretty much any time I had a moment, so yes. Changed once I entered into a relationship the first time.

Answer all of your questions? :D
I think the Escapist may be the only place where you can get people to freely talk about their actual masturbation habits.

1. Are you male or female?

Male

2. How often do you do the deed?

About once a day. sometimes less, sometimes more.

3. Are you in a relationship?

Yes.

4. If yes do you do it more or less? If no do you do it more than you usually would?

About the same.

5. Do you believe it improves your performance in the bedroom or not?

Yes. I believe I it makes me "last" longer.

6. Focus; does reduced/stopped masturbation decrease or increase your ability to focus on things?

Not that I have noticed, no.

7. Do you believe that is is harmful or healthy? I.E. Reduce chances of certain cancers, mental health, stress or makes you go blind and grow hair on the palms of your hands?

I don't really have much information on the issue, but I seem to recall that it helps against prostate cancer.

8. Is it different now opposed to when you were younger?

Yes and no.
More often now as opposed to when I first discovered the joy of wanking, but at this level for years now.

1) Male
2) Depends. I put 7+ in the poll because it varies from like 2 to over 10. Also when I do it one day I like to empty both barrels of the shotgun as it were.
3) Nope
4) Never had any sort of relationship at all.
5) I imagine a bit, I know how to sustain myself a bit better.
6) When I go for a few days without it I get more focused overall, but yeah, if I'm feeling it I'm going to be distracted until it's dealt with usually.
7) No. I mean like any activity it has effects, I mean orgasms have a big impact on the brain so it's bound to do something, but nothing like hair on palms or stupid shit.
8) Well I imagine I do it more now I have permanent access to computer and live on my own. I'll be honest, I also thought it was a bit fucked up that when I was like 13/14 I was masturbating to pictures of people old enough to be my mum, but don't get too Freudian about that.

Ok sure why not.....even out the statistics a bit

1.female
2.daily (I'm actually curious if that's normal for females)
3.nope
4.if I were in a relationship I would do it less
5. Uhhhhh it portably wouldn't
6.no?
7. I don't think it's harmful and it ......feels good
8.technique changed
It's amazing to see a female who admits doing it regularly... Every woman with whom I talk about this stuff says they rarely ever do it.
I've actually come to the point of feeling quite sad and uncomfortable with my girlfriend's disapproval towards masturbation.
I wonder if they are lying or it's just not as common, aside from the general consensus that females don't have the same kind of sex drive there's also the cultural thing where that kind of.....fixation is considered expected for guys but not so much for girls
I was actually talking to a lady friend of mine awhile back about this, and she admitted to doing it quite a bit. More than I do it, in fact! In this society, we're pretty quick to call women sluts, but not so for men. It's been talked about before, so I won't start that conversation, but that may have something to do with why women say they don't masturbate. (Even though they totally do!)

Aaaaanyway. Okay. Here we go.

1. Are you male or female?

Male.

2. How often do you do the deed?

Depends on if I'm in a relationship or just... extra horny? Anywhere from 0 - 7 times a week. Although 7 is quite unusual for me. I chose 1-3 in the poll options.

3. Are you in a relationship?

No.

4. If yes do you do it more or less? If no do you do it more than you usually would?

As in... if I'm in a relationship? If I'm in a relationship, I usually don't need to masturbate. If I'm not, no real difference.

5. Do you believe it improves your performance in the bedroom or not?

Certainly. Clever masturbation can help you last longer. Or, it helps me.

6. Focus; does reduced/stopped masturbation decrease or increase your ability to focus on things?

Depends. There have been times where I felt the urge to have sex or masturbate so badly it was hard to focus on other things. It hasn't happened with masturbation as often as sex, though. And even then it doesn't happen a whole lot.

7. Do you believe that is is harmful or healthy? I.E. Reduce chances of certain cancers, mental health, stress or makes you go blind and grow hair on the palms of your hands?

I've heard nothing about how it's unhealthy, but I've heard a lot about how healthy it is. Honestly, if you're not doing it, you're missing out. As far as I've read, there are literally no downsides.

8. Is it different now opposed to when you were younger?

Oh yes. When I was younger, if I'd answered this poll, it would've been 7+ times a week. Would've been better to answer on a daily--rather than weekly--basis.

I'm such a minority.

1. Female.
2. Never.
3. Yes.
4. N/A
5. Wouldn't know.
6. N/A
7. It's very healthy but I've never fancied doing it - I've always thought it slightly unhygienic. Granted you wash your hands afterwards but I eat with my fingers so.... meh.
8. N/A

1. Are you male or female?
- Male

2. How often do you do the deed?
- 1-3 times a week

3. Are you in a relationship?
- Nope :D

4. If yes do you do it more or less? If no do you do it more than you usually would?
- No, I like my 'me-time'

5. Do you believe it improves your performance in the bedroom or not?
- Actually yes, stamina starts with yourself.

6. Focus; does reduced/stopped masturbation decrease or increase your ability to focus on things?
- I don't make important decisions, go on dates or play online without masturbating first.

7. Do you believe that is is harmful or healthy? I.E. Reduce chances of certain cancers, mental health, stress or makes you go blind and grow hair on the palms of your hands?
- I firmly believe masturbating is physically and emotionally healthy. Prostate cancer, sexual frustration...

8. Is it different now opposed to when you were younger?
- Yeah, I do it less often. Porn never changes, though.

[b/]There isn't much evidence for either side and I believe that's because it doesn't really matter. It's like saying "Is doing 5 pushups healthy or not?". It's not unhealthy, but not particularly beneficial either.[/b]

1. Are you male or female?
Female

2. How often do you do the deed?
Never tried it

3. Are you in a relationship?
No

4. If yes do you do it more or less? If no do you do it more than you usually would?
Not really

5. Do you believe it improves your performance in the bedroom or not?
Never had sex before, so I couldn't say. If anything, I think a mix of my asexuality and my lack of a libido would have a larger effect on my performance in a bedroom setting.

6. Focus; does reduced/stopped masturbation decrease or increase your ability to focus on things?
To my knowledge, I don't have a libido, so there's no effects that I know of at the moment.

7. Do you believe that is is harmful or healthy? I.E. Reduce chances of certain cancers, mental health, stress or makes you go blind and grow hair on the palms of your hands?
In general, I can't say. For me personally, masturbation does not feel relevant to my health at all since I have never desired or engaged in it.

8. Is it different now opposed to when you were younger?
Not really, apart from not knowing what the term was before.

To be honest, if I did have a libido and/or desired to masturbate, I probably would do so at least somewhat frequently. I perceive masturbation as a positive thing, regardless of gender or biological sex, but it just doesn't feel like it applies to me.

Thanks, it's interesting to hear the perspective on masturbation from somebody who's asexual.

3. Nope, never been in one also
4. N/A
5. N/A, still a virgin
6. It doesn't distract my thoughts particularly often so I guess not?
7. I think it's likely healthy
8. Still the same

Ok, I'll bite.

1. Male
2. I'd say on average once a day, sometimes more, sometimes less.
3. Not currently.
4. I've noticed my desire to fap drops to almost zero when I'm in a relationship.
5. Not that I've noticed.
6. Again, not that I've really noticed either way. I'd say it's likely that my ability to focus is temporarily increased after the deed.
7. As far as I can tell there's nothing harmful about it. Unless you're going 10+ times a day and neglecting all other aspects of life, then you've got a problem.
8. I guess, if only because now I've got more area to work with, and it's a lot easier to find 'stimulating material'.

7. Do you believe that is is harmful or healthy? I.E. Reduce chances of certain cancers, mental health, stress or makes you go blind and grow hair on the palms of your hands?
I believe it's good, often relaxing afterwards

Probably less, but only slightly

No problem! There are actually quite a few asexuals who have libidos and masturbate just as much as people who are not asexual. Their libido is just not directed at anyone of any gender. If I remember correctly, there may be more asexuals with libidos than without, if not, then just as many. I just happen to personally lack a libido or desire to masturbate. It's definitely interesting just how varied perspectives on masturbation can be in and out of the asexual community.
