Alright do you know your social security number without looking at it up or whatever? We are curious. Don't ask how this came up we were talking, and I said I didn't know mine offhand and I made a comment like I think most people under 27 don't know theirs. Please only vote if you are 27 and under.
I'm over 27, but I knew mine as of Undergrad College at 18 years of age.

So. Many. FORMS.

I don't know how anyone could forget their Soc after that many repetitions.

Oh yeah, I've used my Social all the time, ever since I was about 16 and getting my first job. I'm 21 now, and I've had it memorized for years. Oh, and I'm American, if that matters at all.

The hell? 27? Why 27? Why not...I don't know, 18, or 21?

Anyway, yes, because ever since I left high school, I've been filling out paperwork for my adult life, and a lot of it requires social security numbers.

Well, we don't use Social Security numbers as means of identification here in Brazil, but I do know my General Registration (for general identification/ 7 digits) and Natural Person's Registration (for financial transactions/ 11 digits) by heart.

Nope, I've never seen the need to memorize it, whenever I need it to fill out a college form or whatever else, it is always handy in my wallet. Oh, and I am 21

I know you are only asking for the thoughts of those 27 and under, however; Though I am 30, I have had my SSN memorised since I was 16 years old. It was required of me to use that number as an identifier on many of my school projects as well as anything I did on base (my father was in the military).

I've known mine for years. Once you start filling out paperwork for school and jobs, it's kinda hard not to know it by heart.

Considering every important piece of paperwork I've ever filled out/filed required my SS number, yeah, I'd think knowing it off hand would be kind of a no brainer. I also imagine it might be helpful in certain emergency situations.

I ended up memorizing it back when I was 15 and filling out job application after job application. I actually used it quite a bit when I was 23-25 and using it to get EIN's for businesses I set up.

Now, I'm no longer under 27 (so I didn't vote here), but I knew my SSN offhand when I was 15. It was rather strongly encouraged.

Also, any member of the US Military is required to know their SSN offhand... so there's at least a good million folks who'd vote yes here.

Yes. I need it routinely when dealing with my bank accounts, credit cards, and vehicles. Hell, even going to the doctors or dentists you need to know your SSN

Yeah, I need it all the time when dealing with the medical care and such.

My mom made me learn it by heart as a kid.
