I have my lovely Gadget-bag so I don't need a purse:

No I don't think it has ever crossed my mind that I would enjoy carrying an undersized overstuffed sack full of useless shit.

Now a backpack and/or satchel can be quite useful when loads are large.

All I ever carry, unless I'm specifically bringing something with me (like my laptop), are my keys, wallet, phone and occasionally my ipod which can all easily be carried in pockets.

Everything I need fits in my wallet. If I need a phone I'll just slip that in my other pocket and if I really need to carry a lot of stuff (when I was in London for example and didn't feel like putting too much in my backpack) I just put it in the bazillion pockets my jacket has.

Man, I'm still waiting for someone to invent a practical wallet/keychain so I only have to carry one thing around. The idea of carrying a whole bag full of crap around with me everywhere I go sounds pretty awful to me. So no.

Not that there should be anything wrong with it, I suppose. It's just something I have less than no interest in.

You need a man bag.

It's like a purse except only important stuff goes in it.

It doesn't have to be a clearly defined shape, exactly, satchels work, just needs to not appear womanly and hold stuff.

Wow am I the only married man on these forums who carries his wife's purse from time to time?

Her purse is great. It can carry both of our DS games (or my PSP and her DS if I'm playing a PSP game at the time), a book or two for us, all her stuff and my wallet as well. It's a bit heavy for her to carry with all that in there (I mean she could...but it would hurt her back over time) so I just carry it cause I don't even notice.

I never get strange looks carrying her purse but then I guess thats because it's obvious we are together.

I used to use fanny packs (like a belt with a mini-purse attached) before I got married...but they were uncomfortable and not much better then pockets. Not safe enough really to carry game systems in either. I also have a techno-jacket with tons of pockets I use when going out by myself (has nice protected large pockets for game systems, my wallet etc so no worry about them being damaged or stolen)....but I sure don't carry all my wife's stuff in it...so her purse is the best bet.

If you really want to carry a purse just get a GF/Wife and offer to carry hers. I'm sure she would be delighted:)

Backpacks should work out just fine instead of a purse, more room and such. You can't keep a booster display in a purse, unless it's a big one.

Pockets work fine for me. If I need to carry more/bigger items, I take a backpack, or satchel.

Nope, at any given time I have about 4 pockets, I dont need one.

I love having more pockets than I need...

Not really I always wear this big fleece whenever I leave the house regardless of weather and their pockets are fucking huge, I can fit 6 DVD cases, my house keys, my wallet, a pack of werther's originals and my mobile phone between the two of them without it getting too bulky, and thats without the pockets in my pants.

I haven't looked in too many recently, but I think a satchel would be more useful. The purses I've seen don't tend to have a ton of useful compartments, it's just a hodgepodge of detritus tossed in there.

No. There are more practical carrying devices.

Though this depends on how broad your definition of a purse is.
