At my previous schools, there have been more rational men than women, but only by a small percentage. So I voted "no difference."

Hmm I came into this thinking "oh god an equal rights thing... how long until people realize women have it better and seem to have more rights BUT get 80 cents to the dollar compared to men and that's what people should be fighting for"
How long until people realize a partially false statement? Actually, that is a good question.

While women and men are equally capable of logical deduction, women are far more hormonal and are resultantly more influenced by emotion than men.

To answer your example question, it depends on the dispute. If the dispute is purely for conversational purpose and the woman is not affected by it / has no moral opinion on it, gender shouldn't play a factor in rational debate. If the dispute were over something the woman was emotionally engaged in, the man is more likely to debate more rationally.

Am I a rational woman?

I can wear one pair of shoes with absolutely everything I own, I do not watch Opra or reality shows, I do not accept advice from Cosmo, I do not think that blonde hair & breast implants will further my white collar career, I think that if you dress like a whore you have no place getting angry at men/lesbians who whistle, I think Twilight is ruining vampires, I think Disney is pushing shitty untalented excuses for bad-influence musicuans on kids, I think celebrities & Disney princesses are horrible rolemodels for little girls, I think strippers are taking financial advantage of their customers, I think it's unhealty to let children grow up thinking they're special, I think it's cruel to put a pink dress on a dog, I think war funds should be cut & put into education instead of the other way around, I think weightloss commercials are all BS scams, I think that commercials that expect you to believe they're using real customers are underestimating viewers' intelligence, I think news needs to focus on the truth instead of ratings, I think tv channels are all loosing their integrity with their programing, I think the entertainment business is afraid to take chances & keeps rehashing the same shit, I think that sex, romance, ego, faith, & money do not need to be the sole topics for every goddamn song there is, I think that if it was manditory to have a peanut run as a 3ed candidate for a government office & it won that the other candidates should take it as a sign to retire from politics, & that if trick-or-treaters can go door to door, the girlscouts should too.
Most of the things you said are so retarded I guarantee you no one have even thought of them until you brought them up. You don't watch Oprah or take advise from Cosmo? You might as well announce that you must be rational because you don't eat your own shit.

Where I live, most people DO watch Operah & read Cosmo. But at least I'm not the troll here.

men are usually more forward with what is wrong.
women want you to look between the lines to see the answer.

I'd say men, but that's because I'm a guy, and thus understand a guy's logic. However, when I consider it objectively, I still end up at the same conclusion.

id say men... simply because they usually arent the ones to START the verbal dispute, and are definitely the ones who want it over with a lot sooner. among other reasons

Tough to say. From my experience, women like the whole mind game thing and guys go for the hard truth. Both are pretty bad verbally.

I find that, in my personal experience, men are more logical, and are able to admit our mistakes (grudgingly, mind you, but still). Women, on the other hand, are often rather irrational, prefering to continually stoke an argument untill they are given victory just out of the need for them to SHUT UP! looking from an evolutionary viewpoint, Women, being primarily care-givers to children, tend to be more emotionally driven than Men, who, once again from an evolutionary standpoint, are designed to be the fighters, hunters, ect. need to ignore emotion and look at things from a more colder perspective. this isn't a 100% thing though. there are times when the roles are reversed,(example: angry male) but this is the primary set up.

males and if anything thinks otherwise theyre fucking stupid. women always always act, argue and make accusations based on their emotional feelings. the majority of males argue on what is solid based fact and how or why theyve been wrong, rather than how they feel about something. it has happened time and time again so anyone who tells me otherwise should go check themselfs

It's pretty much this:

For all that we claim to be rational, we humans are surprisingly emotional creatures. Some are more logical than others, yes, but I don't think gender has anything to do with it.
id like to hear you say that after being married for 10 years

Women and Men can be equally irrational. Just look at some of the political systems set up by men - Stalinist Russia, Hitler's Germany, Pol Pot's Cambodia, etc.

That's not to say that women are any more moral than men - Mao's wife was a woman, and she was worse than Mao himself.

Yes, women can be emotional and petty. So can men - I've worked with both, and both are just as bad as each other, ESPECIALLY when it comes to research work in a lab - I can't tell you the number of petty arguments and silly bitter spats that can occur between scientists. You know, "how DARE you use MY Petri Dishes" or "I set the incubator to 72 degrees AND THAT'S WHERE IT STAYS DAMN YOU!" And both men and women have been behind the ludicrous arguments that I've seen.

Look at the conflict between Palestine and Israel - a land spat triggered by religion and racism that has needlessly been dragged out for years and years and years. Both sides have been led by men. I'm not saying women would have done a better job (they wouldn't have), but if you're going to claim that men are more rational than woman, the long, long sordid and insane history of man is going to prove you wrong there buddy.

Different hormones and genes brings out different results, anyone can tell you that, and only a fool would say otherwise.

Not ONCE have I argued or talked with a girl that wasn't either shy about their opinion/standpoint standing by it until the end like it was the one and only absolute truth, and there's no other freaking way.

And my experience with other males have just been mild and logic until it's gone on for far too long, and than is when they tend to get mad, because they feel their views/standpoint aren't going through.

But that is just my analysis of it all. One poll point to the males.

May I ask why? Can you share your experience.

on topic:

I shall state from my experience that Males, we go to the point, we state the point and wait for the response. Rinse and repeat.
And what have also experienced, males rarely bring things like "Do you know how it fell" "Or you don't know how I fell". Darling end of the day, if you fight about something like money/basic materials, feelings doesn't matter only utilitarianism.
(Also changes on personal level)

(Yes, I am A-social, not in relatioship atm, a-sex and support utilitarism. You don't need to use that as a reason to say " You wouldn't last long in relationship... ")

Hello everyone. Seeing as how this is my first thread, I decided to try to come up with something interesting.
This is based on an observation I had been unintentionally taking over a year or so, but my question to you is this:

Which gender is more rational in a verbal dispute in YOUR opinion or in YOUR experience? Male or Female?

NOTE:
(I say VERBAL dispute, because if things have gotten to the point of a PHYSICAL one then majority of all rationality has left.)

Thank you for your time!
Quick question, What kind of arguments are you talking about exactly?

I haven't noticed any specific patterns of rationality that I can specifically attribute to men or women, however I do find that people who generalise about rationality based on gender are generally less rational than people who don't.

Excuse me from saying this, your opinions are good, I respect them. Hell, I even agree to most of them.
But pardon me for putting this like this, due to my english skills being what they are (Not native to english, so I see this as the easiest way to explain this without insulting anyone) but:
You can have an axe or a saw, but when it comes to making firewood the other one is faster, but both end up in same result
