Every time I get coins they go into my wallet then get tossed into my 'coin jar' at the end of the day.

There is at least $50 worth of change in there now (mostly 10 cent pieces).

Whoever said you needed to drag your spare change along with you when you shop.

Is that because you feel their complexion and hair colour doesn't go along with pink?
Because it is a hard colour to pull off, just like "curry" is.

Not sure if I'm missing something here, but don't nice, normal manly Wallets have a pouch that does exactly the same darned thing?

Certainly every Wallet I've ever owned has, and I've never seen any man use anything but a wallet for his coins. Confused.

To answer the the question, yes, I would find it mildly odd/amusing if a guy was using a purse like that.

Yeah, this. Just remove your small change and put it in a tub or something to accumulate, and keep the bigger, more useful change in a wallet with the rest of your money. That way you're lugging less useless coinage around, and by the end of the month you've probably saved up enough change in your tub to take to the bank and get some real money back. Happy days.

I'm sorry, but by carrying a purse you're either one of two things: holding it for a female friend in a temporary manner to render them assistance while they perform some other function.

OR

A woman.

They already exist, they are called satchels. And Indiana Jones had one, so that means they are manly as shit now. I also use the same argument in regards to bow ties and James Bond. Tucker Carlson never should have backed down :crosses arms:

Also option 4 on the poll made me laugh, so congratulations on that.

I've been voluteering in a charity shop for about a year, and I've seen those penny-pinching gits we call customers use some truly random things to carry spare change. Pill boxes, envelopes, I remember one who seemed to keep her coins divided up by type in her coats various pockets. Compared to that, a small bag/pouch designed for that purpose seems perfectly sane.

Your only problem should come from veteran Thief players.

Men should do what the fuck they want.
A purse does not make anyone less of a man and I feel truly sorry for those who think it does.
Nothing more insecure than blokes who think they can be emasculated.

Men should be able to carry purses, maybe that will stop people giving me funny looks when I pull out a wallet. Screw gender roles, people should be able to do what they want and what's most convenient for them.
I agree. The idea that men have to carry around wallets and women purses is antiquated. I've carried around a wallet my entire life, never liking the idea of using a purse for simple things like a credit card and some cash, and I don't care what people think of me. It's more annoying when I buzz my hair though because, shock, women with shorter hair than men is not ok.

Why men can't wear purses is about as ridiculous. If you think, as a man, it makes sense to carry a purse than carry a purse. Opinions of other people matter, I don't dispute that, but be stronger, more secure than them and do what you will. Don't let them stop you (and the weird amass of hate running around this thread). Just as wearing a pink shirt doesn't make you any less of a man than carrying a purse and those who say otherwise should probably take another look at what it means to be "masculine" (hint: it's not your gender or your sex). It's all in your head. So carry the damn thing!

Nothing unmanly about using a coin purse if you really want.

Definitely something unmanly about being unable to take mocking though.

If you want to use a coin purse then use one. You don't need permission from your friends. If they want to mock you for it then let them, either take it in good humor or find better friends. Just use whatever the hell you want and see the humor in doing so, the only point where you become truly unmanly is the point where you can't laugh at yourself and instead blush your cheeks a pretty shade of pink.

A lot of men use bags and small sized bags in Japan.
Especially with all the iPads, wifi routers and what not, how could you not carry a bag?

I think men with over bulging pockets and sagging pants are much more ugly looking than a man who has a stylish bag and smart looking clothes with slim pockets.

I just think it's one of those things that just look "odd" on blokes.

Like skinny jeans (oh dear god, men wearing skinny jeans has to be one of the most hilarious things I see around town), mesh t-shirts, headbands, belly button piercings and those trousers that hang half way down their arse with their underwear showing (just want to pull their trousers up, tell them to put a belt on and clip them round the ear for looking stupid).

There may well be some blokes that can pull it off (not the baggy pants though, no one looks good with their arse hanging out) but the people I see wearing them just look ...... odd.

It's a matter of local culture UNFORTUNATELY. I find it very stylish depending on the purse. I got one but can't use it here in Brazil, if I do I'm seen as either one of those pain-in-the-ass alternative types or a homosexual (nothing against GLS community, but I'm not gay and I don't think anyone likes to be seen and eventually judged for whom they are not). But hell, those purses are very useful. I also enjoy those "cowboy" hats, and paid good money on a Harley Davidson one, no problem wearing it on the USA (California to be more precise) but God forbid i use it here in Brazil, people will either laugh or think I'm a fan of "boiadeiros" and "sertanejo" and other stuff I REALLY DO DESPISE.

Someone mentioned Japan in the forums, I really look forward to visit Japan. From what I see, it's a country that managed to keep its unique identity while embracing globalization (as in a mix of other cultures)into its fold.

Why not use a Backpack? Or get a Wallet with a Coin holder? How much change are we talking about here?
Why so defensive about it?

I have these things called "pockets"... I rarely find I don't have space to keep odds and ends that I might need to have with me, in fact, sometimes, I just pick up random things, like small piles of gravel and put them in my pockets, just because I hate to see pockets go to waste! D=

I honestly don't care.
It's not exactly masculine, but beyond that - who gives a shit.

Yea I believe in masculinity and I was just raised with 'men should be men'...but without the abuse, homophobia and misogyny.
Though masculinity isn't exactly the be-all-end-all of what it means to be human and be a good person (or a reasonable person. Depending on your concept of ethics.)

So if you want a coin purse/purse/man-bag/satchel...whatever. Go for it. I don't think it's manly...but whatever.
Same with guys who dress in pink, wear skinny jeans and scribble comics on themselves.
Same with guys who ***** about the dentist... drink lite beer... etc etc.

Doesn't make you a bad person or a lesser human being, just a less masculine one.

I think there's a distinct stylised difference between a 'satchel' and a 'purse'. Similar to how there is a stylised difference between a kilt and a skirt, or men's underwear and women's underwear.

I can't -stop- a guy from using a woman's purse but at the same time he'd better be trans or he's looking a bit like the fool.

You could rephrase this question with "should men be able to wear tu-tus in public", or one piece dresses or high heels or yoga pants... or any combination thereof.

If there's one thing I miss about the 90s, it was being able to wear bum-bags as a kid. I understand why they're pretty much taboo now, but my word were they useful back in the day. You didn't even have to turn your head as you rummaged through them!

Normally I have a rather laissez faire attitude towards specific gender associations (I'm girly enough that I need to), but seriously, a coin purse is for old ladies with too many pills to carry in their bottles. Buy a wallet, they have these little closing pouches attached to them which can, get these, be used to store your coins RIGHT NEXT TO YOUR OTHER MONIES!

That being said, if someone can find me a practical purse that automatically sorts coins (preferably into sets of 20p), I'd be all over that.

want to add my fathers favorite colour is pink and i do not see why we have to class any colour as a girls colour, on the same note you can make an argument that men should be able to wear skirts because skirts are practical allowing free movement and superior cooling ability to pants or shorts.
the same can not be said for man purses. there are alot of inventions in this world that i think have really hit the nail on the head, including but not limited to - the internet, the bacon double cheezeburger and the wallet

essentially what you are trying to do is reinvent the wheel except you decided it should be square.... and not spin. again if anything girls should be using wallets and men should be using.... wallets
