You may or not be aware but it was in the planning to make a Metal Gear Solid film. However(by the grace of god) it has been scrapped.
What is strange it's not because the producer dropped out or a writer being thrown into prison but cos Konami dosn't want it.

What's your opinion?
Are you glad there not makin' it?

I like MGS but the trend is that movies based on video games don't work out too well. I think Konami didn't want their game to be blemished.

MGS is not really appropriate for a movie. It's better suited to a series or mini-series. And an animated or CG series at that or else they'd blow all their cash on the set design or simply blue screen it.

While I would of liked to see an MGS movie, chances are it wouldn't of been that good. It would be too hard to compress it all into a movie that goes for 2-3 hours max.

Seriously, would anyone want to look a movie about snake sneaking all the time and talking on codec? That basically defines the game. Well, that and cutscenes.

I'm not a massive MGS fan, so I'm not really down-trodden about there not being a movie. To me it seems like it would just be another action movie and as this chap said

Didn't we already have MGS4?

"And so then, Metal Gear Solid fans around the world breathed a much needed sigh of relief. Their beloved hero. not to become a victim of Hollywood rape."

OT: I'm kind of glad it isn't going to be made. Even if it was, one would expect Hideo Kojima to be involved in everything from directing, to writing, to producing, to applying gaffers tape, just so he could make the movie as true to the game as he could.

And let's face it, it could never be as bad as the Super [This movie never happened] Brothers movie.
