out of one and master of puppets i would say master because I've heard one too many times and its just annoying but if there songs your choosing between then you obviously havnt heard a lot of metallica so songs because people in my school who say they listen to metallica (the kind of people that havnt heard of kill em all) only listen to one, master of puppets and anything on and after the black album really listen to the entire ride the lightning album or ...and justice for all these are the best albums

i hope the album is good

Looks like 'One' is the winner, on the escapist forums anyway!

One is an absolutely amazing track when they play it live. Every time I've seen them it just completely blew me away, and it was one of the best tracks they played. Though Creeping Death is always great at their shows too.

That said Master of Puppets has the better studio version. I've never cared for how Justice sounds overall. The songs are great, but the lack of Bass in the mix really makes the whole album sound kind of tinny. Not St. Anger tinny, but definitely missing something.

Out of the two options I'd take One, I found it to be a better production over all. Still in my opinion their best song is No Leaf Clover, pure majesty.

Master of Puppets is the more musically technical, and therefore the most interesting to listen to. One has 3 riffs, where as master of puppets has 3 riffs in the intro :D

Good day you lot, this debate just broke out at school on Metallica and a comparison between their 2 most famous songs, Master of Puppets and One.
I'd say Enter Sandman is their most famous song. I've never heard Master of Puppets and only know of One because of Guitar Hero.

=P
Bleh! Go listen to Master of Puppets. Now!

One: is about a soldier who lost everything in a explosion except his mind, another great riff but said to be Metallicas best instrumental.
One is not an instrumental. It's a song, not a piece. There are vocals.

My vote goes to One. I love Master of Puppets, but how One varies its tempo between the melodic instrumental intro, then blends into the vocals, then slowly ramps up to full-bore aggression is astounding, and it's what I love about heavy metal songs in general (Sinner from Judas Priest and Heaven and Hell from Black Sabbath come to mind).

As much as Master of Puppets is a great tune, but it lacks the variation and subtleties of One. I just feel that much more emotions, thought and effort went into One. It's poetry in music for me.

Both are mainstream, and therefore not good. Start thinking like a metalhead.

If I had to pick one of the two, I'd go with Master of Puppets. Just a personal preference since I like fast-tempo songs. My favorite Metallica song of all is Dyers Eve from AJfA, in case you were wondering.

Also, MoP is less mainstream than One.
