I occasionally get em' from eating chocolate. Especially if I eat chocolate in the morning, something about my just woken up head and chocolaty goodness that early messes things up something bad. So, no chocolate croissants, or pancakes. :(

I had a migraine a few months ago. I don't know what caused it but suddenly everything was extremely bright(The week before this incident I had a headache every 2nd day). I thought it was the contrast on the monitor so I turned that down but it didn't help. About 20 or so minuted passed and I felt this intense sensation of pain on the right side of my head. It lasted about 6 or 7 hours, I can't really remember. After that incident my headaches stopped and they returned to the normal "once every two to three weeks" schedule".

EDIT: I should also mention I felt like vomiting during the entire incident and had blurred vision. After the pain passed I felt like utter shit. I still had a headache but it wasn't as severe, my nausea was still there but it went away after an hour or so and my entire body felt like it was about to collapse upon itself. Honestly, the after-migraine is the worst part if you ask me.

Nope. I dont get migraines and I rarely get headaches. Probably because i'm not addicted to amines like most people are.

If you want to stop having migraines, stop eating amine rich foods. It will suck at the start, but in the long run it will be worth it.

Most people react to the different chemicals in food in different ways. For me, i'm intolerant to gluten, amines give me heartburn, i'm not to sure what salicylates do to me yet, and I know that i'm fine with dairy. If you want to find out what different chemicals do to you, try a "Failsafe" diet. It's the best way to see what chemicals you react to.

With a bit of effort, you can make sure you never have migraines again.

*Disclaimer: I'm not an expert. But it is worth looking into it for yourself so you can make your own conclusions.*

I get them, though not often thankfully. Mine often seem to be caused by lack of quality sleep.

I tend to have a fairly long lead time on mine where I can feel them building. If I get on it early enough with some pain medication and maybe a nap (or at least some time in a darkened quiet area) I'm usually good. If not, however, I'm done for and I'm in for several hours of severe pain, and it doesn't seem to matter at that point what medication I take or what environment I'm in.

I thought a migraine was just an extremely painful headache.

Hm.

Well at any rate, yes I have an extreme sensitivity to light and it causes me to get headaches. That's why I don't like really bright sunny days.

I also have migraines. I was so terrified when I first got it, it lasted for whole.three.weeks. It was only on the right side on my head, I was sure that I am dying. Did a series of examinations, MRI and stuff, and it was confirmed as migraine, caused by stress. No one has them in my family, not one, but I am a rather emotional person and my body does not handle that well, so... that's about it.

My mother gets very bad migraines, which usually end with vomiting.

However, me, my mother, and my father get headaches from storms.

I don't get migraines, but I used to get the migraine aura you described, where your vision gets strange. It can also make you have slurred speech, feel weak, and dizziness. Sound familiar? Yeah, those are the symptoms of a stroke. So before I knew what it was, I got very scared. Once, we finally went to the emergency room of the hospital. After seeing two specialists, they told me what it really was: essentially harmless!

But strangely, since then, it hasn't really happened. What also used to cause it was playing WoW excessively, especially in purple areas. My sight would just suddenly remove a part of it. It would fill it in with colours from around the area I can't see. It's a strange feeling. I remember looking at my friend and he suddenly didn't have a mouth.

I had one, once. I started freaking out because one half of my vision went blurry, and then I started seeing kaleidoscope-style patterns; didn't link it with the headache until I just wanted a dark, quiet room to crawl in.

My dad gets them fairly often, though.

Yes, i get them a lot, usually triggered by the combination of chocolate and orange. It never fails. My face goes one side numb, i see tunnel vision and 'fireworks' and i have to vomit to stop it. nasty stuff indeed.
