Most of the time when I play MC, I play survival single player, and go about my business collecting ore and building super structures. However it seems to be becoming more and more popular amongst some players to use invedit to build things that would usually take them multitudes longer to build normally. Now I had always chose to build in survival because I considered it more of an accomplishment to only use what you have collected for building, but now whatever I build, someone else could do in a fraction of the time with mods.

So what is your opinion on the subject?

Considering I play on a creative server, getting items via commands is par for the course. I always however try to not use common materials, and my favorite material is brick and iron blocks. Brick is god awful to find, and iron is far from common and considering the things I build use them as a primary resource, It'd be awhile without commands. If I was to go back to single player though, I wouldn't use mods for infinte items.

I tried using Invedit/Too Many Items, and I was bored with it. There was not much challenge, especially if the difficulty is on Peaceful, and the problem was I didn't know where to start.

With most of my Minecraft projects, I think small, scrape together a small house and build up. When I have all these items, I try thinking big and don't know where to start.

It's not a sake of challenge for me, it's a sake of fun, and I think using an inventory hacker isn't as fun as getting materials.

The game would loose its charm if I could just summon up what I needed. Plus I sort of like digging more than building.

I'm of the same opinion. If I have unlimited resources, then I might as well not play. Part of the fun of the game is about building with the things I can find.

It's all the more satisfying.

Well I disagree with most. I think it's awesome to be granted everything. It's boring and tedious (IMO mind you) to hunt for diamond or any of the other rare materials especially when I need great quantities of them.

I look at minecraft like a more acceptable means of myself playing with lego's. I always wanted every single lego available. Yet couldn't have it. Thanks to minecraft I now get that joy.

Besides, do you really like being forced to decorate your buildings in stone -_-? Really?

I think the only time I've ever used InvEdit was out of necessity. I used it to just give myself stacks and stacks of dirt to build a reasonably sized island made of dirt coming out of the seafloor about 10 blocks down to cover up the remains of a seadome in the middle of an ocean.

I've never used it, I enjoy the mining aspect too much, but I don't have any objections to using it and if I had something really elaborate in mind I could see using it.

I recently built a huge Nyan Cat where I used INV edit. Mining gets boring after a while, I just want to be creative and build stuff

Not a chance I would use it. The challenge is what makes Minecraft interesting. Admittedly, mining gets boring, but as Yahtzee pointed out in his review of the game, building my golden cock and balls wouldn't be satisfying if I didn't have to work for it.

Not that I build golden cocks and balls, but you get the idea.

I used Invedit for single player, at first I just used it for pick axes and stuff, but eventually used it for everything.
Totally ruined the single player for me enough that I don't play it anymore. (Not complaining, I know it was my own fault.)
I can only get fun out of it when I play on multiplayer with friends.

I'll use it if I'm building something like a giant man or something stupid.

To those who say it ruins the fun, I say that some of the fun of Minecraft is in building things like roller coasters and water slides. Sure, you could spend 30+ hours mining the iron you need for a roller coaster, or you could use invedit.

It's all about necessity. Some things are just quick, fun structures. Others are only worthwhile if you mine for them and build them from scratch. As long as you have a limit, then invedit can increase the fun had in Minecraft. You just have to know when to use it, and when not. Either way, you're determining your own level of enjoyment.

Wait... People are actually playing mincraft seriously?
You're concerned that people aren't playing minecraft the way it should be played?
This is very strange.
Minecraft is just a bad game, but if you're annoyed that other people use mods to accomplish what you do in the fraction of time, it depends on what you value more- the actual feat of accomplishing the act, or having a giant two story golden penis and balls made and ready for screenshot sessions.
Thank you Yahtzee for inspiration.

Never used it never want to, the closest thing I used was Iconomy on multiplayer and that was to buy Diamond blocks in order to decorate the roads in the village and the Shrine to the server owner.

I use it only for my major construction projects. Nothing else. I like messing around a bit, so I have a world called Invedit, where I just build random crap, and try things out.
